Last night at ED a very young Health Asst apologised - I thought you were his daughter! That’s ok, there’s a big age gap but yes I’m his wife.

It’s funny she apologised when she hadn’t said anything, but had obviously thought it. Very sweet of her. Bet she never assumes again.

Thank you. It’s doesn’t always feel very graceful! I do get breaks, yes. Work is great. My family are good and my partner Alan is very quietly supportive. And there’s always a little art of some sort.

Visited Tony 10. Woke, got to eat yoghurt & peaches. They let him sleep bc of extra Oxy ✅ Helped him wash face & hands etc.

Back at 3. Helped have afternoon tea. Left 4.45 after staff had taken toilet. More Oxy so sleepy. Convinced to go to bed, even if sleeps thru dinner, as pressure sore on bum.

Tony’s back at the resthome. Got him a cheeseburger. He’s tired & confused: thinks I’m lying about it being where he lives but happy to stay. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Hospice will be in touch tomorrow. Dr thinks septicaemia likely to start within days.
I’m holding on by a very thin thread after a long, hard day.

Just seen Dr, who was great. Decision made. Back to rest home with Hospice called in.

No. Was discharged by hospice about 18 months ago when stable.

Sitting in the patient lounge at ED while they X-ray his foot. Suspect I have a face like thunder.

I’m at ED with Tony. No idea how long it will take.

I’m angry sad frustrated exhausted. Dr gave him option of seeing if amputation possible, against every written wish. It may not be possible anyway & she admits might not heal & be more painful. So why?

Couldn’t we let him go with some dignity?

😢 Babu rang & put me onto Tony. He’s being very difficult. Confused, thinks we’re all lying to him. Agitated & untrusting. Had an awful conversation.

I couldn’t talk him down. Babu is giving him extra Morphine & if that doesn’t work, sub cut Midazalom.

This isn’t an easy journey.
