the main thing that puts me off of playing chess is that there is 2000 years of gameplay that hundreds of people with higher IQs than me have spent thousands of hours studying the history of, so much so that when i put the pawn forward they say "ah i see youre going for the bulgarian somersault" and then i try to take their bishop with my knight and they go aw, rookie mistake, youve played the frenchmans cumsock, and in approximately 37 moves i'll have won"

Idiot ebay purchase turned up. An electric master clock (which sent regular impulses to 'slave' dials around a building to advance them every 30 seconds). I've yet to even begin understanding how it works and it may be too far gone to restore properly. Was presented to a sewage works, of course.

Trying to be social online when I have the energy but never wanting to be creepy or invasive. Trying to be social at meets or cons but music and surroundings are loud and friends I know are often with a different social group I don't know and can't intrude on. Don't have a place to invite ppl to.

The whole reason I went out to see the HS2 work is this bridge which I see from the train. Took a bit of doing to locate the bridge and then actually find good places to photograph it from but I loved seeing it close up

Been at my workplace for nearly 11 years but they don't recognise the time I spent as agency staff, so yesterday was their '10 year' milestone. I get an extra day off and a £100 Amazon gift voucher. Trying to pretend that I'm going to buy something nice that isn't a watch but it's gonna be a watch.
