Would 'Pac-Man' exist without 'Xenogears'? No. Would 'Nintendo Mario' exist without 'Xenogears'? Obviously not.

the anime not the american version i just didn't have the characters to type out ssss.gridman each time
watched an episode of gridman the hyper agent after bailing on the ssss remake and it's wild how much *better* it works despite mostly being the same as the first episode of ssss. it's a show so obviously of its era that it boggles the mind they decided to remake it! and why genderswap the incel!!!!

fa is so shaped. like her hair is so satisfying
i don't think i ever said it was intentional? whether it came from an unconscious bias or just unthinking about how their choices would reflect on one of the few games in the franchise where you play as zelda, or some combination, it still has the same end result of her not being able to do much
i think you /could/ make a zelda where her indirect control of her world reflects more on her position as a princess than as a magical ability - why would a princess fight when she can send an army? - but in echoes of wisdom, it's just summoning keese from the sidelines until the enemy's dead, dull
compare, for instance, zelda's punchy sheikah slate moves in age of calamity - still not using any physical strength on her part, but she is capable of fast, direct attacks nonetheless. same with most games where zelda is playable - she has magic, but she can still... *do* things besides move stuff
it gives her exceptionally limited agency in the world. this is the part i find misogynistic, that she is the protagonist of her own game yet mostly acts through mobs and the spirit of link possessing her. she doesn't have the same capacity to affect her environment that, say, mario in odyssey has
aside from moving and pulling objects, zelda primarily is forced to interact through the world either (a) by embodying the male protagonist of the series and just getting to use his sword, but for a limited amount of time, or (b) by summoning a monster or trap that can attack in her stead
i agree that zelda should not have link's moveset as it would make her little more than a reskin of the usual protagonist. but i don't think the choices they made about how she should interact with the world - which is to say, basically not at all and only through proxies - is in any way empowering
all of the boys sat down at a fancy dinner table at like the mars mob's hq idk and the mob boss is like 'dig in lads' and as they look with hunger in their eyes at the huge pile of super meaty and cheesy rich, fatty dishes the opening chords of orphans no namida start playing
