After getting a pal into Linux, I'm very solidified in recommending just EndeavourOS (Arch Linux based but more user friendly) + KDE Plasma as your desktop environment... I feel like everything else goes too far in user friendly and is more restrictive (Bazzite) or not far enough (raw Arch)

depends on your needs, wants, and patience... but I'd say it's worth it in the long-term with the direction Windows and OSX are heading
