I read the first two volumes of green yuri and while I totally get where my friends are coming from when it comes to slow/no progress, I think they helped me prepare my expectations as I really enjoyed it.
Also just reading it in volume form vs waiting for new stuff to come out.

This is actually a really good comparison.
DQ1+2 remakes remind me of Etrian 1+2 remakes. EOU1 was similar to the original game but also had a bunch of major changes and additions, while EOU2 was basically just a whole new game built around the skeleton of EO2.
