One thing all these #WarRavagedPortland posts have shown me is just how lovely Portland seems. At some point in the future when you're less likely to get disappeared going through customs, it looks a beautiful place to visit.

It is ridiculously sweet, they spend hours training the owls to fly, but the biggest laugh is when they walk.. Rafiki an African Spotted Eagle Owl is incredibly fast… running around, where as Kibo tends to plod along…. But Kibo does keep stopping to look at grass or leaves 😁..

An egret looking for breakfast on this #FeatheredFriday.
A great egret standing in a pond. Tall grass is hiding part of his body. The pond has reflections of the trees on the other side.

What a fantastic bird, white-throated needletail at Scarborough Castle this morning, from Marine drive. After not finding it at Filey, thanks to the (re)-finder.
No pic can justify this true mega, these certainly don't 😅.

Ode to the Portland frog
From the mist of the moss and the grey Oregon rain, There leaps a green hero to ease all the pain. My love for this frog is a powerful thing, For the justice and freedom his ribbit can bring. With a croak full of spirit and a firm little bound, He stands up to bigots who poison the ground. He's our small, squat defender, so brave and so fast, A symbol of hope that forever will last. ~ Shane Ford

During a government shutdown, the Trump administration is bailing out Argentina, whose president is fond of saying, “The state isn’t the solution, it’s the problem.”

Secretary Scott Bessent says the U.S. has “directly purchased Argentine pesos,” and the Treasury Department has “finalized a $20 billion currency swap framework with Argentina’s central bank.”

Continuing unsettled weather has kept things on the quieter side, though multiple close in Minke Whales have kept everyone entertained between bouts of rain. Avian highlights include Black-throated Diver, Grey Phalarope and Slavonian Grebe www.fairislebirdobs.co.uk/latest_sight...

Jeremy drove to the Spanish border with our friend Linda last night, got up very early this morning to dash to Le Train Jaune, the yellow train into the Pyrenees, only to find that they are taking a month off. Oof. This is despite his best efforts to research the trip.
