delusions about the power of AI are driving the sharp right turn among both the administration and elites. they believe that they don’t need a competent government, or lots of skilled employees, or even popular support, because they can just replace people with AI 1-to-1.

this means you can equip druid’s eyes, multibinder, and just hug her with the wanderer’s crest and go unga bunga on her face. you’ll parry some attacks and others will miss you because you’re in i-frames from taking contact damage. when you are down 4 masks, just retreat, go high, and heal.

so the trick with karmelita (which i don’t love, for the record) is that her attacks all deal 2 damage but her contact damage is only 1. you can also heal in complete safety by leaping to the top of one wall than leaping and double jumping again to be WAY high up in the middle

it’s not just that they’re all in on culture war, it’s that they’re all in AND they’re taking very unpopular positions on lots of culture war issues because they’re so marinated in nazi media that they think these positions are mainstream

i think that if trump isn’t either dead or mindlessly demented by 2029, the stress of whatever process ends with him being deposed will finish him off. he clearly doesn’t intend to leave, even though i don’t think he has a good way to save himself from having to leave.

on ACA subsidies democrats benefit from being “the health care party.” poll after poll shows that democrats are more trusted on health care and are perceived as the ones who fight for it. the GOP isn’t going to get credit for saving the ACA or making it more available, even if they did.

the problem with writing actually feasible combat in a science fiction setting is that once you can drop rocks on people from orbit that pretty much obsoletes any kind of land-based warfare unless you engineer some specific technology to enable it (i.e. “a rock-proof but not dropship-proof shield”)

smart or not he’s falling into the same trap that animates the entire postliberal right: they fundamentally don’t believe that anyone organically and authentically holds liberal values. they think these values are being imposed from above and all they have to do is find the source and reprogram it.

i think he also realizes that they’re on a pretty strict timer because 1) once the full force of the economic vandalism hits they’ll be too unpopular to accomplish anything and 2) the only thing holding their coalition together is the health of an extremely unwell old man

way down the list of priorities but i think one program for the Reconstruction 2 administration should be wielding diplomatic and military pressure to get these guys out of whatever hellholes they flee to in order to bring them to justice
