To reframe want, for it to not be pining for what you don’t have or wishing that things were other than they are. It’s a clear eyed view to treat want as a direction to focus your effort. To guide you, not to shame you or instill fear in you.

It doesn’t stop them from knowing or wanting to change and work on things, or to not notice the problems going on; it isn’t some kind of ignorant bliss. It’s just that they have to make change in the moment, because the moment is all that we have.

It’s also just from some of the people who’ve informed my view of Buddhism have been some of the more happy, joyful people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. And talking to them, it’s not that everything is perfect and going perfectly for them, it’s that whatever is happening right now, is perfect.

It’s understanding that things are transient and everything ends. And that’s okay. It frees you to enjoy things as they are and not as they might or could be. It frees you to do now what you might otherwise put off because it might not happen again.

Okay. I have Thoughts about this part of Buddhism.

“Freedom from desire and attachment” is, in my view, more the freedom from fear of losing things. It isn’t a stoic “you will not like or enjoy or appreciate anything”. It’s freedom from wanting and not having, having and fear of losing.

Turns out, it's been purchased by a Republican-owned election tech firm that insisted on it, per Axios.
