Governor Newsom approved 2,000 Wells a year in Kern County with Bakersfield-Delano already in the top most polluted cities in the country. #3 ozone, #1 year round particle pollution and #1 short-term particle pollution.

The Board Members of the SWRCB have voted unanimously to NOT put the Kern County Subbasin in Probation, and instead move the Subbasin back under DWR review. We are disappointed by this decision, but we will continue to work to uplift Kern Community voices and uphold the Human Right to Water in CA.

We are looking forward to Gov. Newsom (@gavinnewsom.bsky.social) signing this bill because of both the health threat of microbeads in drinking water and because the expense of such contamination will burden ratepayers. This is a win win for California
