My favorite was many years ago when the DEA announced that they had seized $55 million worth of marijuana.
It was eleven pounds. Valued at $5 million per pound. That was back when $5 million was still a lot of money for a pound of weed.

Thousands of people began looking for marijuana seeds.

I see it as a problem with mental illness. A huge chunk of the population has borderline schizoid/OCD personalities. Our reality will never mean anything to them. Could be about one-third of the population.

In 1933, California and some other states repealed their alcohol prohibition laws. It was immediately obvious that the Feds couldn't enforce it alone without state help. In 1934, prohibition was repealed at the national level.
Seems like there might be a lesson there.

There never was a legal problem with taking the drug most associated with violence and owning guns. Weed was the main target.

The existing law is what targets black people. It was specifically created to target racial minorities. This case seeks to remove a law that was racist when it was passed.

I don't think you understand this case and the background. The campaign for this began decades before Project 2025 and years before you were born. This law is one of the many insanities behind marijuana prohibition.
The "masses" targeted by these laws are people a shade darker than me.

The Govt doesn't in the US. They recognized that was not within Federal powers when the first drug laws were passed.
The law is against making, buying, or selling the drugs without a license. If you can't make, buy, or sell them it doesn't matter whether you have the right to take them.
