#Avs looked pretty sluggish in the home opener. Didn't have their legs at times, and bad puck management compounded the issue.

They did have Scott Wedgewood, and he, and the Ball Arena crowd, had a night to remember.

Nathan MacKinnon with a shot from the left dot on the power play with Gabe Landeskog in front. First couple of power plays were bad, that one looked a little better and then it looked a lot better.

#Avs rookie Zakhar Bardakov is still waiting for his NHL debut, but his transition from the KHL has been pretty smooth. His style of play -- his coach said "he's playing for keeps" -- has certainly helped.

#Avs said this team can be different because of the stability and continuity at the start of the season. After the mess at the beginning of last year, a solid, comprehensive win in LA to start 2025-26 … backed up the main theme of training camp.

Jeff Malott came off the bench to replace Warren Foegele after Josh Manson’s huge hit. Malott went right after Manson and took an extra penalty in the process.

The #Avs scored on their next shot, while Malott was serving his fighting major, and then scored again on each of his next two shifts.

#Avs PP1 called for offside on that power play ... and it wasn't close to being off.

Nathan MacKinnon was just on the ice after the horn to end the 1st period barking at the officials. Even put his hands about 18 inches apart to show how far it was onsides.

He was told to go to the locker room.

Josh Manson just crushed Warren Foegele near the defensive blue line. Jeff Malott came over to fight Manson.

Mason was running very hot at the end of that. Looked like a rules of engagement issue. Gabe Landeskog had some words for Malott as well, who got an extra two minutes.
