I'd have no objection if the Nobel Peace Prize went to a number of the courageous Venezuelan pro-democracy/human rights activists struggling against the Maduro regime. However, the rightwing María Corina Machado--whose commitment to democracy and social justice is dubious--was a very poor choice.

María Corina Machado, a U.S.-backed Venezuelan opposition figure, has received the Nobel Peace Prize.

“They didn't give it to Donald Trump, but they seem to have given it to the next best thing," says historian Greg Grandin.

Machado 🤢 dedicates a peace prize to the man who sent troops into US cities, branded his rivals enemies, and gutted the rule of law. In praising him she trades freedom for favor and drags both nations closer to the authoritarians she claims to fight.
Illustrated portrait of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado against a plain background. Below the illustration, large bold text reads: “Nobel Peace Prize for pro-Israel right-wing Venezuelan leader Maria Corina Machado draws criticism.” Beneath that, smaller text quotes Pakistani writer Fatima Bhutto, stating that the prize has ignored Gazan doctors and journalists for two years and rewards “the foot soldiers of Western imperial politics.” The image is credited to maktoobmedia.com, dated 10 October 2025.

"I found a considerable lack of work after doing concerts for Palestinian children.. if that's the way it has to be, that's the way it has to be. If you support human rights, you gotta support them everywhere."

Vice President Harris — who served under the Biden administration as it carried out a 14-month genocide and live-streamed slaughter of innocent men, women and children — shouted down protestors interrupting her book tour.

Harris slams protestor during book tour.

“You want to talk about legacy? Let’s talk about the legacy of mass deportations, of not voting, and Donald Trump.”

“Carney’s volatile temper and brusque demeanour also worries some of those in his orbit. For a politician, he is impolitic and officious, even with the most senior ministers and public servants”
The facts presented in the article are very concerning and a bit shocking.

Had US political leaders followed US human rights law, acted in their country’s interests, or shown some semblance of morality, US military spending on Israel since Oct 2023 would not be $38 billion.
www.stephensemler.com/p/us-has-spe...
The US has spent at least $38 billion on Israel since October 2023. The single column chart shows $38.2 billion in US military spending on Israel from October 2023 through September 2025, including: $18 billion arming Israel, $6.1 billion defending Israel, $14.1 billion waging war on Israel’s behalf. Data: Pentagon financial records, enacted legislation, media reports, author analysis. Figures are conservative estimates in constant 2025 US dollars.

The world witnesses the horrific Israel’s genocide of Palestinian people for almost 2 years. Not recognition of genocide by Canada. Not a single sanction on the Israeli regime. History will not forgive.
Inaction is complicity
Moral failure

#Gaza is not a warzone – it is a graveyard for humanity’s conscience⚠️

Palestinian children are being starved to death and killed by bombs in their tents. It must stop now.

We urgently need international action to protect children & families now. We cannot fail them❤️

Israeli forces killed over 20,000 children in Gaza since Oct/23.
Gaza has the largest numbers of child amputees in the world.
Thousands of families are slaughtered, generations. Total devastation. Bombs & man-made starvation.

Sanctions from Canada? No.
Ban on artists fighting against genocide? Yes

Israeli forces have killed at least 20,000 children in Gaza since October 2023.

This is a deeply shameful statistic for our collective humanity – a horrific new low.

Every single one of these 20,000 children had names, favourite subjects in school, and hopes and dreams for the future.

Most media are glossing over Israel soon releasing 1,700 Palestinians it abducted and held without charge--in other words, hostages they kidnapped. And they're not releasing all of them.

I wanted to come up with an appropriate rejoinder to these despicable, genocide denying words from Jared Kushner. But I can't put it better than @omarbaddar.bsky.social does right here.

I love that we live in a world where we're all supposed to now praise Trump for his peace-making and ignore the fact that at least 20,000 Palestinians have been killed on his watch, with bombs & bullets - & rhetorical support! - that he supplied to Israel.
That's all erased now.
