institutions have been involved in digitization, for example, which made research that many of us do possible — but we don't control a lot of that infrastructure because we partnered with companies like Google, Gale, etc. Publishing conglomerates' enormous consolidation of power in the era of +
Congrats to Becka Thompson on not ACTUALLY having to move in with her uncle 50.2% of the time.
I don't know who mom will vote for, but i know she'll be well-informed.
My mom, recently moved back to Mpls, is reading @naomikritzer.bsky.social 's blog and snickering appreciatively at turns of phrase. ❤️
Accurate mental arithmetic beyond a couple digits was never in the cards for me, but estimating, the concept of scale/orders of magnitude, and things like drawing & reading (even inaccurate) maps/graphs/plans... SO SO KEY.
The few kids who got distracted reading this were my favorite thing this evening.

(Near runner up, the -several- kids thrown by the lack of glass in my storm door. Most thought it a fun trick, but a few were very concerned about my broken door - i showed those how I would put it back together.)
So much rough stuff! Glad you are still with us and healing.
The concept of a wound vac is kinda scary, but I've been around someone who needed one, and they are a truly magical technology that does amazing things. I hope all best results (as fast as possible) for you.
(And she is still filming social media videos at the house she owns in the other ward.)
Popped back in to Bsky to check on this and apparently we are at the stage of claiming to be living in a relative's house, possibly only just over half the week (bc she was claiming just -under- half the week in W12 before she resigned from Park Board (in the ward her actual house is in.))
And my follow up question: if we are past that deadline, did Becka Thompson move? And if she moved, did she resign her N Minneapolis Park Board seat? I know there's a window here and I am curious if she hit it, is still trying to hit it, if she's counting on no one actually checking, or what?

Man, having to do work that rests on the presumption that laws exist is extra-draining lately.
"No, no, right, -they- probably are not going to follow the laws. But if you don't, you will definitely find out that -you- still have to."

I think you must mean someone else.
Such a creative arrangement. Mm HM.
(Not on Bsky much, sorry so slow to see this.)
Oh, yeah, that's definitely a fair use example - but i also often use it to demonstrate how media literacy is essential to comprehending criticism/commentary uses - tons of people I've shown that to can discern NO point or message in it.
I sub full-fat yogurt for some of the milk & butter with box Mac& cheese - good if you like a little sour/tangy.
And I stir in canned tuna pretty often.
(I keep the ingrdients separate in the fridge if I don't use them up, so I can combine differently and use different spices at the next meal.
Frozen spinach is also a good stir-in, tho not with corn or salsa for me.)
The scientist master cheesemakers of Wisconsin.
Tooooo easy, but lately I've been eating a lot of things that are some mix of canned corn and beans & potentially another protein like eggs or ground meat. +/- cheese, yogurt, and/or salsa. Great with rice or chopped tortillas stirred in, fine without.
Occasionally "we tried that" is "people keep trying that over and over and it doesn't work" (which is often legitimately good info.)
And sometimes "we tried that" is some degree of "please don't disrespect us by suggesting we never thought of or tried that."
