Happy to report that I did my annual Dead Man's Bones vinyl listen, bought some Pillsbury ghost cookies, the streetlight in the parking lot is flickering unsettlingly, and I saw a car with the vanity plate "DEV1L" on my drive back from the grocery store tonight. It's officially Halloween season.

There's a kid in my neighborhood who is always running. Yesterday I saw him stop, pull out a tiny bound notebook, open to the center and quickly scan the contents with a look of deep contemplation. He tapped the page with the back of his hand, said "Yes. Become stronger," and broke back into a run

Y'know how sometimes people are like "ugh socks and candles are so impersonal, they're terrible gifts"? I like those things. You got a pair of socks or a candle you don't want? I will happily take them off your hands. Why would I say no things that keep my toes warm and a little fire as a pet?
