All the aunties, uncles, and entles out here thanking whoever created K-Pop Demon Hunters because, for once, all our niblings are obsessed with the same thing which makes Christmas shopping way easier.

I've subsisted mostly off leftover birthday cake today, so I'd say 37 is off to a good start.

The weather is getting colder here, and my boys don’t have enough warm clothes to stay safe this winter. 💔
We’re doing everything we can, but it’s really beyond our ability right now.

We’re hoping to raise £200 to buy essential winter items.
Even £25 from you means warmth for a child. ❤️🧥

God is in Palestine.

This Advent, please continue to support groups like The Sameer Project, The PCRF, and individual fundraisers of those living in Gaza, and visit Red Candle Light for Palestine and sign the pledge to light a red candle for Palestine this Christmas season.

Dem leaders are speaking at fascist rallies for genocidal ethnostates and we still have millions of Americans who think they're a meaningful alternative to fascism
New: Hillary Clinton will be speaking at an event hosted by Israel Hayom (Israel's most read newspaper, run by Israeli-American billionaire & Trump megadonor Miriam Adelson).

She'll join John Fetterman, Eric Adams, Trump UN Ambassador Mike Waltz, Biden official Amos Hochstein, and Israeli officials

I wish I had a schedule as predictable as my cat Riley and his yellow blanket. Every day, at the same time, he wanders into my office, makes biscuits on the yellow blanket I put down for him by the sliding glass door, and then naps for like, two hours.

On November 30, 1900, Oscar Wilde died in a cheap room at the Hôtel d’Alsace in Paris. A once famous playwright, he spent his final years in exile after public disgrace and imprisonment. His death closed a chapter that had begun with immense success and ended in near-total ruin: 🧵

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Favorite random memory from this time of year: I lived in Korea for a while, and one of my big brothers sent me a birthday gift. It was expensive to send a package from the USA to Korea. For *weeks*, the package was caught up in customs for some reason. 1/2

At dinner:

My sister, to her daughter: These china plates came from your great great grandmother.

Niece: *looks visibly disgusted*

Me: Buddy, they weren't *buried with her* good lord 😂

the invasion of Afghanistan is among the most horrific recent chapters of the long history of elite impunity in the US. this coda is grim but fitting - the govt practically explicitly affirming that it should only be Afghans who live with the consequences amid fading public memory of the atrocity
It didn’t even take 6 hours.

Every single actual creative person has experienced the experience of finding effortless what was once effortful.

A generative AI user is completely alienated from this experience, it's alien and unfamiliar to feel pride in the outcome. Or, even to actually give a fuck about it at all.

There is a phenomenon that only happens when I sleep in a king-sized bed. I will go to sleep with my head on the pillows as normal, but by the time I wake up, I have repositioned myself with my head and feet facing the sides of the bed, rather than the top and bottom. Why? No idea. 😂
