Hanging out, showboating.
The world’s most surveilled, policed, and incarcerating country and we still get people saying we have to pay these guys to keep us safe which should really make you wonder what all that surveilling, policing, and incarcerating is for.
It’s worth considering that an overnight dismantling of ICE in 2029 would release into the wild a whole herd of specialists in violence with scant other marketable skills.

BREAKING — Mayor of Lewiston, Maine posts on FB that ICE is coming to the city imminently. This confirms my reporting the agency is planning a surge in the city and state generally.

Lewiston is home to a large Somali-American population, which made up 4.6% of the population as of the 2020 census.

“bad breath mixed with feces” ...
Every couple of weeks we get a different description of the apparently awful stench coming off our necrotic president and I think it's high time the media nail down exactly what kind of rotten meat covered in women's perfume he actually smells like.

Fun fact: Berlin is 44 square miles larger than NYC but has less than half the population. And it shows.
Berlin is so much more *empty* compared to Paris, it’s fascinating, such a different city experience.

I want to double-tap this because this dynamic is exactly why everyone is so eager to argue that these theories are somehow uniquely corrupted or co-opted while we’re living through a white supremacy revival sold as a working-class agenda...
It's easier to point to Nancy Pelosi in kente cloth or Hillary Clinton with hot sauce in her clutch than it is to contend with why a political tendency that has had dignity for all Americans at the center of its project for centuries has been blocked from mainstream adoption.

They looked folks square in the face and told you the affirmative action case was really only going to affect Ivy League elites and besides aren’t many of those students rich foreigners etc etc and y’all bought it.
BREAKING: DOJ is suing Minnesota over its state hiring policies, asserting that its affirmative action programs violate Title VII.

Notably, the AG is seeking a three-judge district court panel (which would include one Eighth Circuit judge) for the case.

Reminded of organizers in Portland distributing flyers warning against Black protesters being “swoopers” distracting from the movement amid the Floyd protests, arguing me down about them being undercovers, and all the subsequent reporting showing white people were the main undercover officers there.
Also it's crazy how many left groups are directly inspired by the Black liberation movement and hold figures like Assata Shakur and Fred Hampton as idols and martyrs... and yet don't engage with the Black liberation efforts *currently happening* in their cities. No wonder they aren't trusted.

One of the side effects of the dominant culture (and some minorities too, to be sure) refusing to read or even listen to black radicals is that the telephone game is played -- white conservatives uncharitably interpreting white liberals to understand what it means to be woke.
Even now, with the intersections perfectly visible, “identity politics” and “woke” are still used as pejoratives.

I say this a decade on because many many of my friends went through waves of betrayals/fury/frustrations at such and such a left public figure going anti-woke or whatever and like 9 times out of 10 I had flagged them for this early and often, and so was saved a lot of confusion and heartbreak

Many truckers had no warning.🧵

When someone on the left historicizes revolutionary or resistance movements in the 2010s as jumping from Occupy to Bernie without passing BLM or Standing Rock it's a pretty solid guarantee those people are going to have white settler politics and can not be trusted
This is a big reason movements like BLM very often aren’t considered resistance or left movements and it’s *constantly* reflected in our rhetoric.

there's also the way it's been divided timeline-wise as well. There's a decades worth of BLM action in response to specific events and normally it all gets parced down. I say it started at Ferguson and site George Floyd. To me not correlating the events helps disjoint a united history of protests
