BREAKING: 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago has allowed the Texas National Guard to remain federalized, saying troops "do not need to return to their home states" unless further ordered by a court.

But they denied Trump's request to let active deployment continue. #txlege

In appeal filed late last night, the Trump administration argued recent episodes of violence against ICE agents make National Guard protection necessary in Chicago.

They also argue federal courts don’t have the legal authority to second-guess Trump’s military judgments.

Chaya Raichik, better known as Libs of TikTok, was dutifully bemoaning the fact that the city of Houston repainted a Montrose neighborhood crosswalk decked on in LGBTQ+ rainbow colors. Raichik wrote that the crosswalk “must be removed immediately.”

And our governor dutifully complied.

This is a doozy: A Chicago federal judge blocked all defendants *EXCEPT PRESIDENT TRUMP* from federalizing & deploying the National Guard in Illinois in written order just issued.

I have no idea how this would be implemented. More TK. #txlege bsky.app/profile/did:...

Ousting teachers over their comments online risks becoming unconstitutional, several experts said.

However, that protection isn’t absolute. Discipline can be justified if an employee’s off-the-clock speech “genuinely undermines the functioning of the workplace,” per @thefireorg.bsky.social

SCOTUS ruled that the clerk couldn't be fired for her joke about Reagan's near-death, which she privately made to a colleague.

The public nature of social media could make the case an imperfect match for this moment, but it shows this isn't the first time we've been here.
