The story is not who controls the agencies, the story is why there is a disconnect between what Pritzker is saying and what is happening. You've at least managed to learn that Pritzker is not in the direct CoC for the ISP, so you've done more work than Will.

I'm not even claiming my assumptions are right, but I'm distressed that people are unwilling to demand rigor from supposed authorities that reinforce their priors. In this information environment, it's too easy to garner clicks by playing to people's inherent beliefs about the state of our country.

So where is the disconnect?!? I'm done with believing the framing given to me by people that haven't even bothered to investigate. There are answers to the questions we all have. If only there was an editorial journalist who wasn't too lazy to call the Governor's office and a legal scholar...

Meanwhile I have seen zero evidence of what Will is claiming, that Pritzker secretly likes cops and wants them to hurt his constituents. The fact that LE agencies are operating against his expressed wishes doesn't mean he actually supports them. If you want to believe that, you should want PROOF.

Are there police units defying orders? Did JB Pritzker give any orders? What could those orders have been, what is their effect, who exactly reports to him and who reports to another leader of another agency? All of these are excellent fucking questions with answers that Will ignores to doompost.

I might be wrong! But Wil didn't even bother to look into the reasoning behind that disparity, and I'm fully within my rights to call him lazy for not doing his own damn job.

Also I'm familiar with how chains of command work, especially between civilian and LE agencies. They're never simple.

Except I didn't say those things, I'm wondering why there's a disconnect between words and actions, and the only way to find out would be to actually investigate the situation. Like by calling the governor's office or reaching out to a legal scholar, something a writer should be doing.
