I'm so proud of everyone from my old neighborhood of Rogers Park in Chicago. I see what you have been and are doing. I am so proud of how organized the community is and how much more so everyone is becoming. It is inspiring. Just one example... And this is something EVERYONE can do. Everyone.

Medical debt bankrupted my parents due to *one* serious illness requiring a one-month nursing home stay. They were retired and on Medicare, and their only other debt they had was a $70K mortgage, had worked hard all their lives and lived modestly & never took welfare. Bankruptcy humiliated them.

The county--the entire region--is ravaged by addiction. Two of my kids are kids whose birth parents lost custody due to addiction. When I volunteered, one of the district teachers told me that about 1/3 of the district students are being raised by someone other than their parents.

It's difficult for outsiders to understand how poor people in my MAGA county really are. While my kids were in public school here, they brought home superlice (Google if ydk), scabies, and bedbugs. All students automatically qualified for free lunch regardless of income because poverty is so high.

Nope:( Kentucky is effectively a theocracy and the parents are really, really poor. The end goal is convincing parents to vote for giving public school money to religious schools. We already voted against that measure once and this tactic is intended to help it along next time.

Friendly reminder that charter schools only exist to operate for profit and eliminate their accountability to any form of educational standards they didn’t set for themselves, while also siphoning tax revenue generated by families to rob both homeowners and their children’s future en masse.

Turns out there's a state law requiring our public schools to advertise their shittiness at the top of their website landing page. These schools are deliberately bad by the design of the MAGA govt of Kentucky.
