This was done in the music tracker that comes bundled with GB Studio!

Thank you to everyone who tried out the test build for my Game Boy RPG and sent me bug reports and feedback! The build's now been taken down to get things ready for an updated build in the future.

I hope you'll test the new build out too when it releases! There will be a lot more content!

Thanks! I do think the Game Boys soundchip is quite good at hitting those gritty low notes like those in the intro!

That's an uplifting way to look at it!

Ma'am. This is a Wendigo's.

It's so satisfying when you write a post that fits perfectly into the 300 character limit!

That's why I like game development as it's the one thing that rewards being a jack of all trades!

I don't know if I've expressed this here before or not. It's something I think about often. I'm not good enough an artist or musician to make a living off of either alone, but being just good enough to combine it all into something else special makes it feel okay. Jack of all trades, master of none.

I've never felt like a master at creating art, music or code. I've only felt okay at best. One reason why game development is so important to me is that it's one of the few mediums that allows me to bundle all of what I can do into a package that may become bigger than the sum of its parts.

Thank you for having a listen to both tracks!

Thank you! It's a for a real Game Boy game so it's definitely got a lot of pixel art!

I got some more battle music done for my Game Boy RPG! 👾

I was composing this with the intention of it being the regular battle music, but I think it came out too intense. I'm thinking of swapping it with the current boss battle music. 🎶

Okay. That's a fun concept! 🏝️

I'm telling you, that tag's the golden goose of views on Itch! 😆

I've always been a fan of having games in games!

Thank you and yes! This is a real Game Boy game that can be played on a real Game Boy. That's thanks to the engine I'm using. I'm not brave enough to learn Assembly. 😆

I'm getting more confident that my game will be able to fit into the 4MB ROM size limit so I might just give those arcade cabinets a playable mini-game. I could always add them to the list of "things to remove if I ever surpass the size limit".

...

Okay. So if the fantasy world in my Game Boy RPG can have high tech teleporters, why not arcade cabinets too?! 👾

One of the fun things about making a real Game Boy RPG is that I can play my game on anything from a Game Boy to a GameCube! I could even pop it into a Super Nintendo! 🎮

I've got the whole chain of story events leading up to where the game starts written up. Some NPCs will randomly tell you pieces of it here and there. The whole picture is never given to the player directly in one go, or even in order.

I don't know how hard to follow all the scattered pieces of world building lore are in my Game Boy RPG, but they're not relevant to the core gameplay experience so I guess it doesn't matter! 📖🐉

True. There's some other little things I'm thinking about removing too.
