hegemony is when a particular interest comes to be understood as a universal interest, when people identify an injury to one as an injury to all, it's what animates solidarity when it actually works.

imo this kind of framing tries to paint an attack's target as a superset of the narrow target, to mobilize broader support against it. the main alternative is some kind of "solidarity with" response (diff. preserving)
is queer a bad superset or is scaling up the attack target itself the problem?
