I eat OXO cubes for a living... Not dead yet! Servant to two German Shepherd Dogs. Enjoys travel, history (WW2, WW1, medieval, Scandinavian historical fiction, such as the Shardlake series) and food. Well, cooking it, at least.

Right. I got an LG 49" curved and it's great until I'm back to the 14" MBP.

Very good episode this week, Matt. I was driving listening to it and you mention two books towards the end. Did you post those titles on the FotF website? I note that in Apple Podcasts app, there's nothing posted there. I can always go back and listen again to find them, but it would be ....

WTF Apple.. It's plugged in and yet you claim it's not charging. This is a 2024 M4 MacBook Pro. This is really just a software issue because now it's at 22% so it clearly is charging...

25% now 🤦

Nicely done and good for you. On the path downwards there are often plateaus and when I reach that state, I rejoice at looking back up the mountain to see how far I came. I'm 120 lbs down from my peak in 2019 and the past couple of years saw much of that loss. Keep doing what you're doing :)

The Imperial Japanese Army of the 30s believed, like Hegseth, that casual violence - slapping/punching of soldiers especially - would inculcate a cult of lethality among the rank and file.

What it did was so brutalize the troops that they took out their frustration and anger on civilians and POWs.

I spat my beer over my keyboard at your comment, so thanks for that.

And as a Brit in the US, I am carrying my passport in case those cos-play ICE fucktards want to tango.

The Orange King telegraphs his desire for a third term to normalise the idea. By the time the 2028 election comes around, it could become a reality, especially since the "Supreme Court" would probably rubber-stamp a constitutional amendment, just as they have run roughshod over the rule of law...

Yeah, she was a true goddess and a delight to see on camera. I really hope that Attenborough survives this calendar year because to lose one is terrible; to lose both would be a catastrophe.

Now if only SQL Developer would animate it with a big red floating arrow... :)

What a shit show. I unsubscribed from WaPo a year or so back because the level of control they were exerting on their journalists was becoming very evident. Seems the purges continue.

He's still moving gravel, unlike Sarkozy who is filling sand bags with gravel.

I sure am glad we have a president who will send a pilot making $80k/yr to kill a Colombian fisherman making $3k/yr in a boat worth $500 with a missile that costs $1,000,000 to keep the public from learning about all the times he sexually assaulted underage human trafficking victims.
