Waiting for Godot: The Hunt for Godot is the recently announced newest installment of the Godotverse. The long awaited sidequel follows Godot's adventures during the events of the original play.

Well, I thought the sequel to Our Dining Table was only one volume, but apparently I was wrong, so maybe one day I’ll uncover the secret of Yutaka’s stupidly expensive glasses in an afterword
daisicles.bsky.social
Part of me is like, maybe an extra zero got added along the way somewhere, but that doesn’t work with the characters’ reaction, so maybe these are just the most expensive frames in the known universe
daisicles.bsky.social
I too have astigmatism and that’s ten times the cost of the glasses I have on right now, even with the more expensive lenses I have to get for my strong prescription
daisicles.bsky.social
Absolutely horrified by the cost of these glasses, horrified I say
A panel from Mita Ori’s manga Our Dining Table: Seconds Please showing the two leads looking shocked at a pair of glasses while the offscreen optician says “you have slight astigmatism, sir, so if you go with this model…astigmatism lenses on top of the frames will cost you seventy thousand yen.”

But will anybody license my damn businessman centaurs? No, of course not

I saw an infographic from ChilChil the other day that was other kinds of bl -verses and I am resigned to the fact that one day I'll stumble across a ton of people begging for, idk, steakverse bl that'll be some weird thing about some people being steak and some people being steak sauce

Bit surprised that Yen seems to be the first to have licensed a cakeverse bl for English print, but somehow not surprised that a publisher would license a cakeverse bl for English print

Yay, more work by Shima Shinya!

NEW MANGA ANNOUNCEMENT: Void: No. Nine

Three hundred years ago, God destroyed the world. Now, humans have been relegated underground, most living quiet lives in the tunnel cities, but the few daring or desperate enough to risk death work as scavengers, collecting relics of the old world...

A new look at ‘THE VAMPIRE LESTAT’ has been released.

Plot? I do not care. Good adaptation? Won't know, won't care. I had a rollicking good time with Stampede, fully expect to repeat that with Stargaze, blissfully unburdened of actual expectations

I have now watched the new Trigun trailer twice and I am gloriously happy to know neither the manga nor more than 1.5 episodes of the original anime, bc I can simply look forward to cool-looking action bits and gruff Hosoyan voice
daisicles.bsky.social
Maybe if I cross my fingers really hard, Hosoyan will voice characters in two of my shows
daisicles.bsky.social
Not a complaint, I wish I had this problem all the time

All the anime I want to watch is airing in January, like damn, y’all couldn’t spread these out a little more??
daisicles.bsky.social
Yup, that’s the one, though if I missed an anime (even a one-off), I really am out of touch. Which, to be fair, is definitely true 😆

For the intended demographic, I think it’s a good thing. There should be more gay romances for all, tropes that bore me and all. But I am wary of adults who won’t engage with bl from bl mags but will act like cookie-cutter titles aimed at younger audiences are somehow exceptional
daisicles.bsky.social
(A smidge depressing that there’s all these magazines offering up exactly this kind of title to far less attention but since bl mags are scary, well)
daisicles.bsky.social
If it’s more shoujo fans, then I could definitely see where I wouldn’t run across them talking it up. I’m always behind with popular bl titles but I do follow some bl mags and usually see covers if nothing else, but not so much with shoujo mags
daisicles.bsky.social
It also doesn’t seem to run in a bl magazine in Japan, so I imagine that would not help attract much attention to it
daisicles.bsky.social
Apparently it’s on K Manga, so maybe it did well there? Anticipated by the four people using that service
daisicles.bsky.social
It looks like a title that was assembled by drawing tropes out of a hat, so maybe it was more of a metatextual line. Eagerly awaited because it was assembled like legos for the purpose of publication
daisicles.bsky.social
In one of their new license announcements today, Kodansha included the line “the eagerly awaited bl is here!” and not only have I not heard of it, I haven’t heard of the mangaka and the art doesn’t look familiar at all. Please tell me I’m not that out of touch (I am absolutely out of touch)

Eventually you'll know the time is right, I think, but impulsively right after vacations is often not the right time, I feel 😆. I finally had to make a "no major life changes in January" rule myself bc Christmas breaks mess w me and I never want to do anything afterwards
