and people always told me
be careful of what you do
don't go around breakin' young girls' hearts (hee-hee)
and mother always told me
be careful of who you love
and be careful of what you do
cause the lie becomes the truth
hey-ey!
danhowdle.bsky.social

pretty sure everyone has the standard on with the wall-to-wall serial killer/true crime/murder programming.

the graph doesn't show who's buying up all the property, and neither does it in any way tell us whether affordable housing is available to people trying to get on the housing ladder. it just shows a simple vector of supply and demand.

netflix seems to be subtly telling me the only thing i need to do to get a tv show is kill a bunch of people in series across a few years and, i don't know, wear their faces of eat their bollocks or something

there is absolutely no bottom to the hunger to expand property funds and portfolios. the only way to address the issue is to curb investment in property as an asset class.
danhowdle.bsky.social
if a home is available to rent, it's owned by a wealthy landlord or property asset fund. whether rents are going up or down is irrelevant to the 'build, build, build' nonsense people with vast sums invested in property want us to believe is the answer to the unavailability of affordable homes.

hey brexiters, when you're having your genitals scanned, photographed and prodded with a chorizo on your way into spain, remember — you voted for this
danhowdle.bsky.social
'rents fell'. rents. we're talking about building affordable homes for people to *buy*. falling rents point to wealthy landlords buying up all the housing stock — precisely what i was saying. you cannot build your way out of a market cornered by asset funds. you can only legislate your way out.

i don't think even he knows what he's claiming tbh
