“Ye mean tae tell me that ye would go tae a farm and pick apples for fun?” Jamie asked, incredulity heavy in his tone.

I supposed it must sound absurd to him — harvesting food for fun instead of survival — and I couldn’t blame the skeptical quirk in his eyebrow.

“Well,” I bristled playfully, “wouldn’t you think it fun if I came to the orchard with you tomorrow and helped pick apples?”

“Sassenach,” Jamie answered his hands finding purchase on my arse, “ye ken full well if ye come along, the only apples I will have my hands on are yers.”

Happy #wednesday100! Have some post-finale thoughts in the form of drabbles! Feeling very emotional about Mrs. Fitz and Jamie’s relationship after watching her with Ellen in BoMB 🥺 and of course I’m never not thinking about my beloved Beauchamps 😭

She’d heard he was coming to Leoch, but nothing could’ve prepared her for the sight of him, a lad of sixteen now — his father’s features with that MacKenzie height and build, his mother’s red hair…

She couldn’t say to him all that she wished — that she’d loved Lady Ellen, that she’d wept in her husband’s arms when news spread of her death, but that she’d always been glad Ellen had chosen her own happiness in life. Instead, Glenna told the lad, simply, honestly, “Welcome to Leoch, Jamie. You can come to me for anything,” and hoped he saw truth there.

“It’s called a bivalve shell, Mummy,” Claire says for the third time, holding up two fingers to demonstrate, “Because it has two sides.”

“Yes, my darling.” Julia crouches and presses a kiss to Claire’s sweet face. “But even bivalve shells must be put away so little girls can take their baths and go to sleep.”

“And have a story,” Claire insists, bouncing on her toes.

“Of course.”

She is excited for the trip with Henry, but she’s also dreaming of this time next year with another baby. Our greatest adventure has always been you, she thinks and kisses Claire goodnight.

This image, taken by the JunoCam imager on NASA’s Juno spacecraft, highlights a feature on Jupiter where multiple atmospheric conditions appear to collide.

This publicly selected target is called “STB Spectre.” The ghostly bluish streak across the right half of the image is a long-lived storm, one of the few structures perceptible in these whitened latitudes where the south temperate belt of Jupiter would normally be. The egg-shaped spot on the lower left is where incoming small dark spots make a hairpin turn.

The image was taken on March 27, 2017, at 2:06 a.m. PDT (5:06 a.m. EDT), as the Juno spacecraft performed a close flyby of Jupiter. When the image was taken, the spacecraft was 7,900 miles (12,700 kilometers) from the planet.

Here are the remnants of a massive star that ignited in 1054. Ancient astronomers marveled at how they could see the supernova even during the day. All that's left today is the faint, colorful smudge called the Crab Nebula.
