I give Mike Shildt a credit for holding steady when we questioned the 2024 team for their .500 start. His confidence paid off.

This year he was adamant again, but their biggest flaw showed up as late as the Mets series in mid-September.

Didn’t seem to address it & it cost them.

You couldn’t have imagined 2024 ending the way it did.

Going scoreless for 24 innings vs. the Dodgers was insane. Not something you’d ever expect based on how the Padres played the last few months of the year.

This year’s ending? It was staring them in the face all season.

Thing about the Padres WCS loss is that it was entirely predictable.

All year they struggled to score consistently on the road against playoff teams.

Runs in three game series:

Two 1 Run games @ CHI

They never found a solution.
