There is nothing inherently wrong with Artificial Intelligence. The issue for people is the system that AI exists within. People do not trust that under the current systems of the world that those in charge are interested in using these technologies to safeguard life, health, & wellbeing of society
I think the we require deep reset. But in order to reach the place where we accept that we have to confront the truth of who we are and how this world wants to be at present. That ugliness hurts to encounter but it has to be placed before us for any of us to move forward from it.
Brilliant Conversation here. Really explains so much of why things online continue to suck so much.
I cannot recommend this convo enough. Both enlightening about the policy that is enabling so many of our systems shittier, AND hopeful with actual steps toward making things better. Well worth the time. @adamconover.net

How bizarre is it that the folks who struggled with social interactions as adolescents now control the mechanisms by which people interact, socially?
This is entirely why they are constantly trying to soft soap racism by saying oh this is just what kids do. That's a lie. Children do not just say to kill Black and Brown people without being taught to be racist. Do not let these people lie and obfuscate their way out of this.

Goosebumps watching this. Chicagoans fighting for this country. Mass collective action is the only thing that can keep fascism away.

BREAKING: Big moment as CDC staff stage a mass walkout.

They have lined the street outside its HQ to greet and salute the four top officials who have resigned in protest at RFK Jr’s attack on the agency’s science base.

I hate that I am laughing so hard at Ted Cruz getting flame broiled by Tucker Swanson. Where is Samantha Bee? I need her on television this instant to talk about this. This is insane.
This pic might be a great way of showcasing how fake the manosphere/alpha male bs really is. I will not be elaborating.
There's a meme template here somewhere
I am no longer exhausting myself with people who are not invested in the care of others.

4Chan was hacked, its source code was leaked, admin emails were leaked, AND a lot of registered users used their real names and .edu email addresses. Lotta CHUDs getting exposed to sunlight today.
Honestly, I'd almost feel bad for Elon considering how many ppl hate him and see him as a loser, but he's a genuinely terrible person, so...reap what you sew.
#NowListening #Nao #Jupiter This project is full of uplifting vibes and joy with moments of somber reflection so well crafted and stitched. It is effortlessly vibrant.
Be wary of where we place our energy.
Sometimes we are feeding the monsters that will eat us in the end.
Can those things be roped into satire? Sure but the main focus that made The Boondocks work in the comic and first 3 seasons was how it put a mirror up to us and the powerful.
We need people willing to interrogate the powerful rather than just make fun of random things we see online that can easily be meme culture.
But I would say that satire is necessary for very specific things that require more than just skewering for the sake of a good laugh. We need the tool of satire to shine a light on the absurdity of the powerful when they try to exert power upon us. The Boondocks is better tool to punch up.
Is it important to have a Boondocks style show when we have so many memes driving the culture all at once? I am not sure. Sometimes the internet has these things covered already.
You stay offline for a few hours and you can miss an entire eco-system of information that leads into a very niche aspect of meme-culture.
It is really hard to keep track of all the ridiculous things happening all at once now and the internet moves far too fast. Parody requires a much larger buy in from popular culture and some things are far too niche for everyone to share the joke.
