This is from Autocracy, Inc, about how modern autocratic propaganda works.

I consider this every time I decide what to share and how to frame it.
Mostly agree except for the “of the last century” part. A bill in 1924 barred the door to almost all Asians and a more significant one in 1965 reopened it.
Here in Southern California, I met a Mr. Ruiz from the next town over. His family has been in the Conejo Valley for more than 180 years. He seemed bemused when people start immigrant-bashing. He’s seen this movie before.

The Chumash, who’ve been here 13,000+ years, are less bemused.
Weird decision in that it leaves Essayli free to continue persecuting at least three cases.

I’d prefer something more definitive so he could go back to his former profession of being a freelance blowhard.

The awfulness of this clerk’s bigotry aside, it’s time we start calling his former employer by his correct title: Possessor of Stolen Property Neil Gorsuch.

Bautista told the San Francisco Chronicle the officer acted without warning and appeared to intentionally target him.

If you think this doesn’t apply to you, I encourage you to do a web search for another cleric named Martin Niemöller. (2/2)
Yesterday a CPB agent fired a pepper round at close range into the face of Rev. Jorge Bautista of the College Heights United Church of Christ.

The incident occurred in the Bay Area during a protest against planned immigration raids. (1/2)

Just for the record, in 2020:
- Wray was the FBI director Trump handpicked to replace Comey
- Jack Smith was in the Hague prosecuting Kosovo war crimes
- Garland was an appeals court judge
- Monaco was in private practice in LA

There was no Biden administration yet, crooked or otherwise.

He crazy.

Hey, just want to mumble that this is wildly illegal and inappropriate and would prompt impeachment proceedings if we still had a functional Congress instead of one run by a blind, deaf and mute Renfeld wannabe.
New: The Pentagon confirms to CNN it will funnel $130M from an anonymous Trump “friend” toward military pay.

He's really looking everywhere for those Epstein files.

Leavitt: At this moment in time, the ballroom is really the president's main priority.
There was bigotry around the 1977 mayoral race – with Mario Cuomo supporters chanting "vote for Cuomo, not the homo," referring to Koch – but I can't imagine the father being OK with what the son said here in any way/shape/form.
Shooting ordinance into your own country: A grave risk to public safety, and probably not the shortest path to a Nobel Peace Prize.

And yet, the most interesting thing about this is that he is in the Epstein files.

1. Home color laser printers are cheap and I've had one for years, pro-rated toner about $0.20
2. 4 sheets of 8.5x11 labels is $1.33
3. $2 for a sheet of black foam board
4. A stick from my garage and four staples

I'll be waiting for my three dollars.
ICE's use of force is far out of proportion to any perceived risk, and a hindrance to those in local LE trying to build bridges of trust into immigrant communities. Cruelty is the point here, not public safety.

Kudos to Anthony Vazquez for summing up in one photo the dehumanization MAGA celebrates.

ICYMI — Trump lied that Chicago had “4000” murders, when it’s projected to have 380 this year (way down from last year)

If it’s so bad there why does he have to keep lying about it?
This is, after all, the guy who said on 9/11 that his was now the tallest building in NYC.

Sure... she used her office to enrich herself, confident in the belief that she could just absolve herself of any crimes.

But don't worry.

I'm SURE she's NOT doing the same now that she's in charge of the largest, unaccountable law enforcement slush fund in the history of the United States.
Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.
