We’re more than a year away from midterms and 3+ from the next presidential election (presuming we have them) and I see it’s already “this Democrat doesn’t 100% meet my purity test, therefore they’re no different than Trump” season 🤦🏻‍♂️

This *only* helps Republicans.

I agree, but I think that’s why aside from bringing back Pete and Díaz (🤞) they’re not going for any front line free agents. I think there were about 8 or 9 guys on the team making more than McNeil.

Mauricio lost 2 years, one to injury and a second to the rehab leading to eventually sitting on the bench and they inexplicably didn’t send him down to get more playing time. He and Acuña are both loaded with raw talent and are still very young.

The clock may be a factor, but I think the big issue is that they try to throw every pitch as hard as humanly possible.

He’s making a lot less than many of his teammates, so I’m not sure it’s about money. His skills are fading and they have a number of potentially good young players who play 2B.

But they may add a prospect in a deal to get more in return.

We have no idea who’s making what decisions, on the Mets or any other team. There are lots of managers who prefer veterans.

True. It could be the best argument for keeping him is that he’s more valuable than the minimal return they’d get in a trade. I just fear that Mendy would overuse him, that he’d be in the lineup almost every day.

Republicans are 💯 responsible for firing thousands of federal workers. They don’t need a single layoff to offset the shutdown. It’s their Project 2025 playbook.

My fear; it’s 2027, we’re watching McNeil hitting .219, slamming his helmet into the ground with every weakly hit ground ball out, meanwhile Mauricio is on the All Star team and Acuña leads the league in stolen bases and wins a Gold Glove, both playing somewhere else.

He’s turning 34, his OPS for the past 3 years says he’s a league average hitter, and he had a negative DRS in 2025. He’s showing signs of not aging well, and if he’s still here, he’s likely to get most of the playing time at 2B, impeding the progress of younger players.

Cohen has often talked about building something sustainable. Signing a big ticket free agent on the wrong side of 30 to fix every issue isn’t going to accomplish that.

RFK fired the CDC official (w/decades of experience) leading the measles outbreak response. It's been decades since we've had such a large outbreak. And just to ensure they they can spread the measles outbreak even farther, they also fired the leadership for the center focused on immunization.

I think it’s time to move on. Former batting champ/.300 hitter who is now a .240 hitter, and I’ve had enough of the temper tantrums every time a pitcher gets him out. And his primary position is one where they have a glut of potentially good young talent.
