I did something similar last year: Dulles to Heathrow, Elizabeth & Northern Lines to Euston, train to Liverpool Lime Street, really pretty easy (except for when I ate shit so hard at the top of the tube station escalator at Euston that multiple people asked if I was okay lol)

The premium economy in United wide bodies is darn near close enough for later flights to London from here, I can get 4 hours of sleep which is enough to power through the next day. Other members of the family are less enthusiastic about the late flights 🤷🏼‍♂️

Some friends from California were surprised I hadn’t been to Hawaii and I pointed out that the direct flight from Dulles takes about the same time as flying to Moscow (when that was a thing) or Amman. Not that I have anything against Hawaii but I’d be just as happy to go to Jordan at the moment

Every so often I’ll look for obviously sub-optimal ways to get somewhere. If I have to take 2 flights anyway to get to Australia then why not add another for IAD - IAH - SCL - SYD or even better IAD - CPT - JNB - PER
