I mean you could try and legislate for councils to be able to buy houses back at the price they sold them but uhhh I think that's against the ECHR

(Yes this is how the free market works, it's now fashionable for councils to 'buy back' social housing and this is supposedly a good use of money)

In 2014, Hackney Council sold a property under Right to Buy for £95,050

In 2021, they bought it back off the ex-tenant for £365k

In ~6 yrs, the council lost £269,950 on a single property

It's not an isolated example. @bigissue.com has uncovered 100+ 'Yo-yo Homes'

This joke is funny because it's saying Israelis are fake, rootless people who steal all their culture, see? Not a real ethnicity whose material culture is rooted in their blood and soil. No, some kind of sub-people.

What policy themed visitor trail would you do upon retirement? I would pilgrimage to visit the 100 Rishi Sunak outdoor chess sets around the country. I genuinely think it would be one of those fun random things that would take me to places I’d never otherwise go to

Have you noticed, incidentally, that Romania’s victory over Austria, keeping themselves in contention for a top two place in that group, has given San Marino an incentive to throw their final match against Romania? If Romania finish second, that frees up a Nations League play-off place for Marino.

Relatedly: really quite weird that Farage nearly died in a terrible plane crash in 2010. I think Britain would have been very different and he would have been an interesting anecdote ('insurgent outsider led opposition to EU migration in the 2000s') rather than transformative

It's destabilising, noticeable and extremely aggravating. Just undeniable

No inflation was actually high and once prices are up and interest rates are up people simply do not appreciate prices rising less steep.

Relatedly actually, I think they convinced themselves the public hate lawyers? And while that's probably true to solicitors (ask anyone who's bought a house), Barristers are actually quite impressive? They have wigs and everything
