Got to make the best of these last drying days. A line of washing on a sunny autumn day is a fine sight, especially knowing that soon we'll see the arrival of the days of indoor drying and sniffing every last thing before putting it on to make sure it doesn't have that smell

I'm happy to be able to get voice surgery, but the implications are huge and I'm still trying to work out what it means.

And of course there's a huge element of sadness that it may cost me one of my dearest ways of expressing myself, at least for a year or so and maybe forever.

I want to do a little gig as a farewell to my voice.

There's a reasonable chance I may never be able to sing properly again, and definitely will need to wait a long time before starting.

I have sung my whole life, in bands, at home, to my kids as they fell asleep. Feels weird that will be gone.

In fact now a really good sign of if I'm not actually enjoying a film is when my head starts doing that film-reading stuff, took about 20 mins in the case of the recent Nosferatu film and I was like nah this is shite

Yeah I went through a whole phase when I was younger of getting into directors and the auteur thing cos of that easy riders and raging bulls book or whatever but it just kind of ended up making me over intellectualise stuff as i was watching it and I had to train myself to have a nice time again lol

Thankfully I don't ever really get too hung up on directors or actors outside of the thing in watching. I kind of got my head out of that headspace a few years ago and I find I enjoy watching films a lot more now

Thank you, I just hate being so messed up by something but also feeling like I have no agency, I can't do anything, wouldn't dare to, really. I understand it all on an intellectual level. But that's not where feelings do their work and I hate being unable to go there to avoid worrying about others 😖

I've had one of the hardest losses of my life this year and I can't talk about it because everything hinges on me being respectful, saying it's the right thing, understanding things have to be this way etc til I get 5 mins to myself and I'm in tears again and I don't know if I'll ever be over it.
