Well, it's been a few days and I finally decided to check on this.

deliciousalgae.itch.io/the-door

I joined Jamsepticeye as my first ever jam and created a very short story that I think fell short of the theme but ended up not being a complete flop.

I want to create MORE things now!

For creatives, especially game devs (beginners and vets) - how do you overcome that overwhelming urge to perfect everything before you even start?

What helps you just "do" when you've got ideas you want to express?

Wishlisted! Looks very cute and fun!

This is probably the worst thing I've ever made

Ref sheet for Findiana Jones, the bluefin tuna. He has mostly iridescent scales, with a blue stripe on his back, and fins accented in yellow. He had a brown cowboy hat and whip, with a small chin scar.

Just missing the hat. 😎

Because I enjoy Roguelikes, I might scour over some games I enjoy to see if there's any core mechanics I really enjoy I could put my own spin on that would fit nearly into this idea.

If folks have thoughts on stuff I should look at, I'm down for ideas!

I'm hoping when porting over my items, enemies, spells, etc it'll give me an easier time to edit and balance things and maybe even think of some expanded game mechanics to make everything feel a bit more full and fun.

So now with some design ideas in mind I have a list of things I need to change from the CLI... Monster behavior and their inability to cast spells, spells unable to heal or buff, and the balancing.

So I thought, man. 8bit dungeon crawl. I calculated movement in the CLI version as "tiles" trying to use the idea of a linear Slay the Spire or Die in the Dungeon as a base (Encounters being Monsters, Elites, Treasures, etc) which I can still apply here, with no deckbuilding aspect.

I was speaking with someone and realized a bunch of things started clicking in my head about when I was trying to learn Godot, so a new idea popped into my head...

I've got this tiny little game I built, unpolished and everything.. What if I move it to Godot and expand?
deliciousalgae.itch.io
So I released a silly little thing I did yesterday on itch.io I called Dungeon Adventure. deliciousalgae.itch.io/dungeon-adve...
It's a cli rpg I built in Python as my first sorta major project since getting into programming. Nothing crazy, and I'm happy with it despite how unpolished it is.
