João Fonseca was criticized for skipping the Asian swing and instead playing Davis Cup and Laver Cup.

Kind of a surprise seeing Casper Ruud back in the Top 10 and having a shot to the Finals despite two retirements.

SF in ATP 500 Tokyo (lost to Alcaraz), title in ATP 250 Stockholm and QF in ATP 500 Basel (retired against Fokina) put him back on track.

He retired against Bergs in ATP 1000 Shanghai.
