Belinda Bencic started the year #421 after maternity leave, playing small events to get her ranking back.

She'll probably will finish 2025 inside the Top 10.
João Fonseca was criticized for skipping the Asian swing and instead playing Davis Cup and Laver Cup.

Looking from the recent results, it seems to have been a good decision, but he could have won another tournament in Asia too, we will never know.
Kind of a surprise seeing Casper Ruud back in the Top 10 and having a shot to the Finals despite two retirements.

SF in ATP 500 Tokyo (lost to Alcaraz), title in ATP 250 Stockholm and QF in ATP 500 Basel (retired against Fokina) put him back on track.

He retired against Bergs in ATP 1000 Shanghai.
Vacherot X Rinderknech in the second round of ATP 1000 Paris, repeating the ATP 1000 Shanghai final.
#28 João Fonseca defeats #24 Shapovalov for the second week in a row — and that after winning his first ATP 500 on Sunday.

The boy is focused.

João will face [10] Khachanov, a former winner of this tournament, after the Russian easily win over [Q] #71 Ethan Quinn (1 & 1).
Impressive from #32 Corentin Moutet, who beat big server [LL] #52 Reilly Opelka 6-1 in the 3rd.

#30, a new career high, for Moutet next week.

Meanwhile, Shanghai winner #40 Vacherot, a wild card in Paris, defeat [14] Jiri Lehecka.

Vacherot also climbs 2 and gets #38 next week, also a career high.
Nice win from #42 Diallo, who beat #25 Griekspoor in his best surface, indoor hard court.

Next: Mr. Consistency, [6] Álex de Miñaur.
As Royer is a French tennis player and the tournament is in France, there's only one way to watch this: without sound.
The last tennis match I saw was Fokina X Fonseca on Sunday.

Today is Tuesday and I'm watching... Fonseca X Shapovalov and Fokina X Royer.

Déjà vu, just like Sinner X Alcaraz.

🎾Paris 2025🎾
The Paris Masters is the only ATP Grand Slam/Masters tournament that has yet to be won by Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz; it is the only ATP tournament both have played at least twice (Alcaraz 4 times, Sinner 3 times) without either ever reaching the final (or even semifinal)
Let's spare a thought on #15 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who have never won a tournament in the professional circuit, not even a ATP 250. Today he lost his 5th final, the 4th in 2025.

ATP 1000
Monte Carlo'22

ATP 500
Acapulco, Washington and Basel

ATP 250
Delray Beach
Someone in his team (a publicist, maybe) should tell him, as this opinion about the player is becoming widespread among tennis fans.
For reasons I can’t quite put my finger on, I find Shapovalov incredibly obnoxious.
Very good idea from Fonseca's team to make him cutting his hair.

It was something due long ago, specially the mullet created by wearing a cap.
New career highs:

#15 Fokina (Basel F)
#28 Fonseca (Basel title)
#32 Moutet (Vienna QF)
#36 Munar (Basel SF)
#59 Royer (Basel 4R)
#87 Misolic (Vienna 4R)

Opelka +10 —> #52 (Basel QF)

These late-in-the-year ATP 500 indoors did really good rankings wise for the players who went deep on it.
João Fonseca winner of ATP 500 Basel.

Top 30 debut and seed at AusOpen.
João Fonseca serving for the match 5-4 in the second.

Fokina already saved a match point.
Fokina, my dear…
New career highs:

#13 Linda Noskova (Tokyo F)
#22 Victoria Mboko (Tokyo QF)
#33 Ann Li (Guangzhou title)

Lulu Sun +29 —> #87 with the final in Guangzhou (she's a former #39).
Fokina X Humbert again, now in the first round of ATP 1000 Paris.

They played the Basel SF this morning.

If Humbert plays, of course, as the retired from the match with a lower back issue.
Fonseca X Shapovalov in the first round.

Hope Denis will play until the end that time, even if he is losing.
#35 Cameron Norrie has a kind of 'bye' in the first round of ATP 1000 Paris.

He actually has to play #43 Sebastian Baez, but it's like a walkover, given the little tennis Baez is playing these days.
Inevitable for players sponsored by Lacoste, Ugo Humbert is wearing the atrocious combo white shorts - dark underpants on court.
Humbert is limping from one leg, we won't finish this match.
Humbert X Fokina is the perfect match for me to watch because both are among my favs, so I will rather appreciate the play rather than cheer for a player specifically.
12-0 now.
