There we go (the carving belongs to my late mother-in-law so I can't move it.

I don't bring it up much because it ended over two decades ago but the original Peanuts comic is one of a my favourite things in the world and I'm in a real V-Pet mood 'cos of the current Digimon brainworm so yeah, when I see a Peanuts Tamagotchi in person I'll grab it.

My favourite part was when Babs Bunny was killed by anti-toon radiation but got brought back to life with the power and obligation to travel through time and set things right.

the fact that Treasure used a lot of the same basic design from Astro Boy: Omega Factor for a tiny toon adventures game always makes me imagine them doing the same "covering the whole history of this creator!" that Omega Factor did but now it's for a kid's cartoon with like 80 cher impersonations

Anyone got any horror movie recs? I really like it when there's some kind of "rule" to the horror (eg. It Follows) and bonus points if there's some kind of spooky camera

This also means that reversing the most recent decision won't bring consumers back because their experience was already negative and restarting something needs even more momentum than ending it.

Anyway these latest Hasbro price hikes, huh?

There was a post going around a while ago saying that when consumers quit a subscription it isn't because the most recent business change turned their experience negative, their experience was already negative several decisions ago and they hung on out of convenience or sunk costs.

I just today bought an officially released toy of Bumper, the bar for what counts as a toyworthy character is underground.

This is also why the Kingdom Hearts level is the best piece of TRON media; it's not because the man himself is a guest star party member, it's because that gorgeous world is all up in your face and you can run around in it, and the fact that it being a computer world is plot relevant.

With TRON they decided the draw wasn't the amazing and conceptually fascinating world that must be full of further elements to explore, but it must be Kevin Flynn which is why the second movie is more about daddy issues than technology and is called fucking Legacy.

You can see this in the Jurassic meta-franchise when they decided that bringing back Neill and Dern was the secret sauce rather than, like, making existing dinosaur movies on dinosaur islands.

There are such things as character led franchises (which is why there's blessedly no Back To The Future sequel) but in this IP hungry era filmmakers too often rely on recognizable proper nouns when it's the aesthetic and mood that audiences loved.

I'm going to give my last thought on TRON (not a binding guarantee) which is that despite the huge numbers of reboots and distant sequels a lot of filmmakers don't understand the difference between character led franchises and scenario led ones.

On the list of "transformers designs that inexplicably don't get toys despite official, second party and third party pumping out all kinds of horseshit", Gilthor is pretty damn high

I know these were released over a span of four years but it sucks that they weren't able to get consistency on whether the tech spec details would have letters, whether they would have graphs, and whether the graphs would be coloured or outlines.

I'm impressed that I was able to find these goobers considering my storage solution is "whichever box has space" but here they are! I'd forgotten that Fangry has awful knees and didn't come with a gun though.

I just tried forcing it since I figured the toy was washed either way and it did eventually bend while feeling like it was going to snap the whole time.

A slight correction, the Matrix was stuck to some tape inside the tissue burrito. The other issues are still very real though.
diemtf.bsky.social
*Kreb has a mispunched knee pin so he can't fully sit.
*Ultra Magnus has something wrong with the joint for pulling his fist back so it can't be pulled back fully, and there isn't enough clearance for his fist to flip for transformation
*the Matrix accessory is missing

Nemesis is the only figure without issues here (by which I mean he has only the normal amount of overengineering and tolerance issues of a current retail release) and I quite enjoy the fact that he's an evil firefighter. He, Smoulder, Flatline and Barricade should form an Evil Emergency gang.
diemtf.bsky.social
This is on top of expected issues like the bizarre decision to paint Horri-Bull's horns on a sprue, or Bumper's loose shoulders.

I suspect that expenses from the corporate move out of Rhode Island are being passed directly to the consumer too but let's be honest, it's just that Hasbro sees what we're willing to spend on high-end figures and thinks it can charge us the same for slightly tweaked retail.

The other problem is the same thing that Ghostbusters and other revival franchises keep doing, which is trying to mythologize what was a very (intentionally) silly movie to start with. TRON was just Wizard of Oz with circuits. It was never meant to be capital-E Epic
