Preview of my latest #paleoart piece: a baby bison flees the deadliest predator of Ice Age Europe. Harrowing, harrowing stuff.

I am opposed to AI products and services because of the extra power they require... IN A CLIMATE CRISIS. I am opposed to AI results - texts and illustrations - because they've been created unethically, via theft and non-consensual use of the work of others. Share if you agree.

To liven up Tuesday afternoon, have some speculative #dinosaurs adapted for modern habitats. Respectively, they are the magnificent and steppe fissurefrills, the berk, and the grand field titan. It's nice to take a break from pure #paleoart every now and then, and designing animals is fun.
A speculative, elaborately ornamented, cow-like horned dinosaur adapted for life on open savannahs. Speculative shaggy, tailless and short-frilled horned dinosaurs with scooping, shovel-like nasal "horns" in a snowy setting. A speculative armoured therizinosaur adapted for high browsing in a tropical landscape. Possibly the stupiest animal concept you'll see today, maybe the stupidest you'll see all week. A speculative gigantic sauropod adapted for browsing grasslands during the cool of the night. It's so big that the moon has abandoned its usual passage around the Earth and now orbits the sauropod.

It's true, #PrehistoricPlanet Ice Age is coming to #AppleTV for November 2025. These images show how good our animals are, but... believe me, this barely scratches the surface!! It has been a massive thrill and privilege to help bring this series together... you're in for an incredible treat.

Here it is! Please welcome the AMAZING Mirasaura grauvogeli, a NEW MARVELOUS Drepanosaur published in NATURE today!
This astonishing reptile lived during the Middle Triassic in Europe and it possessed an amazing crest made of plume-like structures!

I was commissioned to bring it to life

Ok… so the cat is out of the bag and I can FINALLY start talking about this. I just confirmed with Tim I can say that I did a lot of concept art, like this baby Spinosaurus, for the new docuseries #SurvivingEarth coming out in 2026!

So excited for you guys to see this!

We desperately need new movie franchises. Hint. Hint.

With all due respect to Gareth, this is bullshit.

If Prehistoric Planet and DeadSound’s Dinosauria and Sauria shorts are any indication, people still love dinosaurs. We just need new, younger talent to tell newer, more creative stories about them.

New #paleoart for #FossilFriday: battling Borealopelta with deep (instead of "high waisted") armour and pigmentation. There's a scientific rationale behind this #ankylosaur #art, which you can read here, along with viewing the hi-res and WIPs of the painting. www.patreon.com/posts/130274... #sciart
Against a light purple sky and yellowish plantscape, two russet-coloured armoured dinosaurs wrestle in wet mud, one having got purchase under its rival to heave it up: will it topple over? Why would ankylosaurs do this? Fighting over resources, like lady ankylosaurs or territory? It's hard to say. Ultimately, animals are a lot like people, Mrs. Simpson. Some of them act badly because they’ve had a hard life or have been mistreated. But, like people, some of them are just jerks.

Bird nesting in the Cretaceous! This is the illustration I did for a new paper by Lauren Wilson and colleagues that is published TODAY in Science

The new paper describes an assemblage of fossils that includes both chicks and adults from multiple species of Late Cretaceous birds!

Dunkleosteus was a genus of placoderm “fish” that is well known for their powerful jaws with distinct bony blades. Placoderms themselves are well known for having large, articulated armored plates covering their heads and thoraces

A huge Dunkleosteus terrelli hurls towards a group of ammonites looking for lunch. One of them releases a cloud of ink trying to escape. All this happens while a school of Stethacanthus (a shark-like chondrichthyan) swims by in the Late Devonian sea.
