A majority of people here have peeled off, some still watching the lot and the cement barricades have now been moved to entirely block crosswalk across it.

the protest seems to have mostly wrapped up at this point. a few stragglers left on the opposite side of the street from the “free speech” zone.

state troopers have finally packed up and are telling protesters they’re reopening 25th street.

“clear the roadway and go home,” they say.

looks like most folks are calling it a night.

still not really sure what set this off.

state police pushed protesters maybe a block and a half from the broadview ice detention center.

but now the remaining protesters are just chilling in the street, which was supposedly part of the reason they were ordered to disperse in the first place.

Quick update on what we just saw here—*before curfew*, ISP troopers, Broadview PD and CCSO deputies began menacing demonstrators outside the ICE facility. Several arrests.

Pepper ball guns at the ready, a bit of a standoff going with remaining protesters. All people are doing is playing music.

Telling the federal court that IL police can handle Broadview was part of the state's legal strategy against national guard being deployed here.

But it's hard to square that as for the good of protestors or Illinoisans as a whole, when IL police are perfectly willing to drag and beat them anyway.

More violent arrests for seemingly no reason. Seeing at least two, sorry don't have exact total.

The crowd here has kept moving backward/everyone is following orders. This is absurd.

Massive number of ISP troopers in riot gear responded by blocking 25th, threatening arrest, shouting into megaphone about an unlawful assembly.
