A majority of people here have peeled off, some still watching the lot and the cement barricades have now been moved to entirely block crosswalk across it.

We're headed out.

Tonight, in Broadview — a suburb outside of Chicago where Illinois state troopers are doing crowd control near the ICE detention center.

After ordering people out of the street, ISP cleared the entire “free speech” zone into the street before “curfew.”

ISP says they are opening the roadway so protesters should leave so they don’t get hit by cars.

alright, y’all.

the protest seems to have mostly wrapped up at this point. a few stragglers left on the opposite side of the street from the “free speech” zone.

i’m headed out!

Heavy machinery in the driveway now doing something with the barricades, unsure what.

"Hey, that's my freedom zone!" someone shouts.

ISP just said they're opening the roadway, ordered people out of the road, and pulled their troopers back for now.

meanwhile, back at the “free speech zone,” the illinois department of transportation is adding more concrete barricades.

state troopers have finally packed up and are telling protesters they’re reopening 25th street.

“clear the roadway and go home,” they say.

looks like most folks are calling it a night.

still not really sure what set this off.

state police pushed protesters maybe a block and a half from the broadview ice detention center.

but now the remaining protesters are just chilling in the street, which was supposedly part of the reason they were ordered to disperse in the first place.

Quick update on what we just saw here—*before curfew*, ISP troopers, Broadview PD and CCSO deputies began menacing demonstrators outside the ICE facility. Several arrests.

Pepper ball guns at the ready, a bit of a standoff going with remaining protesters. All people are doing is playing music.

it’s a standoff now.

the vast majority of protesters have cleared out now. a small contingent of folks is playing music in the street.

totally necessary for swat officers with rifles to be doing crowd control right?
two illinois state police swat officers stand in a street. one holds a pepper ball gun and the other holds a rifle.

While this is all happening, Don Lemon is here. Standoff again for now. Some people have dispersed, some standing on the sidewalk, some in the road dancing.

Troopers have already pushed people back at least a block. Another arrest warning and they are also threatening chemical agents.

Telling the federal court that IL police can handle Broadview was part of the state's legal strategy against national guard being deployed here.

But it's hard to square that as for the good of protestors or Illinoisans as a whole, when IL police are perfectly willing to drag and beat them anyway.

state police continue to push protesters down 25th street. at one point, cops swarmed a group of people and pushed them to the ground.

multiple people arrested.

More violent arrests for seemingly no reason. Seeing at least two, sorry don't have exact total.

The crowd here has kept moving backward/everyone is following orders. This is absurd.

A small number of demonstrators attempted to protest/march in the street.

Massive number of ISP troopers in riot gear responded by blocking 25th, threatening arrest, shouting into megaphone about an unlawful assembly.

Note: it's not even curfew yet.

State police just started pushing people off the business park corner. Here in the road, a brave group of demonstrators are attempting to hold their line.
