Reintroduction time! I’m a Med-Peds and adult ID physician dabbling in medical illustration/comics. You may recognize my “Pressors as Marvel Avengers” series, Core IM art, or other visual mnemonics. Follow me for more MedEd…looking forward to connecting with #MedSky, #IDSky, and #SciArt! ! 😊🎨🦠
Visual algorithm depicting the evaluation and treatment of staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections Visual comic depiction of an EKG cardiac cycle with peaked T waves due to hyperkalemia, with three climbers on the peak and one of them exclaiming “Boss, we’re climbing too fast…her heart’s going to give out!” Visual depiction of a chest x-ray, with two mnemonics indicating how to read the image. The first mnemonic is “PIER”, which stands for Position, Inspiration, Exposure, and Rotation. The second mnemonic is “ABCDEFGHI”, which stands for airway, bones, cardiac silhouette, diaphragm, effusions, fields, gastric bubble, hila, and impression. A comic of Thor, representing the pressor Dobutamine. In this analogy, Dobutamine is a “heartthrob” and can be used for acute heart failure or cardiogenic shock.

One of the most important things we can do to promote sound clinical reasoning, minimize adverse events, and ensure patient safety is to remember that not all fevers are of infectious etiology.

Differential diagnosis for fever in an ICU patient #IDSky #MedSky #SciArt
A man is in an ICU hospital bed, intubated and sedated. The graphic around him depicts various organ systems that can contribute to fevers in ICU patients, including CNS, endocrine, cardiac, respiratory, GI, GI, bone, skin/soft tissue, and others (I.e. malignancy, autoimmune conditions, and drug fevers).

I’ve used Educreations (free iPad version) for some basic stuff. Otherwise I agree that Procreate is the best for drawing/sketching but does not have whiteboard animation capability.
