One tip those interested in understanding Project 2025 can keep in mind, if reading the almost-a-thousand pages feels overwhelming or futile, is just to focus on the intro, the conclusion, and whatever agency/agencies or chapter(s) they personally are interested in researching or resisting.

There were reports a month ago that Texas National Guard soldiers was preparing to go to IL and would be stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base. At least one report (I never saw confirmation) said TX units were already there. In sum, it seems TX NG has been prepped for this for weeks.

No, my message is that govs are containers for power, which can be exercised brutally or w wisdom, & tech is a collection of methods that can be abused or leveraged for good.

TLDR tech and gov aren't stable categories. Validate both (like, by examining Signal's open source code) before you trust.

Quotes are great! Can you provide cites for them? This one I assume is tied to his argument that sensory perception may be productively considered a form of logical inference (with abduction an engine of course) on a metaphysical/genesis continuum, but I'd like to read more for a project of mine. Bonta: Just minutes before the hearing, we got word that the Texas National Guard has been federalized.

We asked the judge to issue a broad order — one that applies to every National Guard unit in every state — stating that none of them can be deployed to Oregon.

days on October 19, 2025.
3. Plaintiffs are ORDERED to post a nominal bond of $100 within 48 hours. The
bond shall be filed in the Clerk's Office and be deposited into the registry of the Court.
4. Defendants' Request to Stay or Administratively Stay this Second Temporary
Restraining Order, which was raised in the hearing on Plaintiffs' Second Motion for Temporary
Restraining Order, is DENIED.
The Court Clerk will contact the parties to schedule a telephone hearing on
October 17, 2025, to address whether this Second Temporary Restraining Order should be
extended for another 14 days.
Any motion for a Preliminary Injunction shall be filed no later than October 17,
2025; Defendants' opposition shall be due no later than October 23, 2025, and Plaintiffs' reply
shall be due on October 27, 2025.
A combined hearing on the preliminary injunction motion and a trial on the merits
under Rule 65(a)(2) is set for October 29, 2025, before the Honorable Judge Karin J. Immergut, in Courtroom 13A, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

5/ Most debates about heavy metal's late '70s genesis revolve around the Birmingham bands: Sabbath, Zeppelin, Priest, and a few years earlier, few hundred miles away, Iron Maiden.
