There are absolutely rich people throwing money at him to try and keep from paying taxes. My theory is that he knows he can't win, so this is just a grift to pocket the money. Plus to prepare for the inevitable MAGA pivot.

Skeleton Knight in Another World is one of the only ones I've seen where the protagonist has a reasonable reaction to slavery. That is, he goes around killing slave owners and freeing slaves.
