Same in the 2000s. Thank heavens for thrift shops! My kids were well-dressed and stylish - on the cheap. I couldn't believe what people must have shelled out for brand new, status-label clothes their kids almost immediately outgrew.

It turns out I can watch the BBC/Nova series, "Human" (and yes, Ella Al Shamahi) pretty much over and over.
With the rate at which the scientific advances are coming, any number of aspects will turn out to be wrong or incomplete in maybe a matter of months; the series is still brilliant.

Yep.
It's not like we didn't tell them.
But they didn't want to hear it from us - in fact, as long as whatever it was made libs upset, they were all for it.

If they're suddenly having second thoughts (and only because now it's hurting *them*) cool - but they'd best get themselves straightened out.

Not to mention, it's practically impossible anymore to actually buy fabric. No more the old fabric stores, where you could feel the fabric, hold it up to your complexion.
Long gone are those giant drawers full of patterns.
They've gone the way of the drive-in movie.

I have this things where I have to actually own a copy of every book I've ever read (yes, it's a problem).
But after a flood destroyed my entire library and ripped my heart out, I swore never again. That's when I reluctantly went fully digital.

We are in a post-constitutional world in which all of the traditionally held "American values" are dead, their hollow carcasses dragged out like idols to awe the populace.
They don't want a democracy or a republic or any of the things the rest of us want.

I *did* buy it! And I don't usually do that either.
Went to see it with my bestie and I'll never forget what we call "the scene" - you know the one.
We're there, side by side, gripping each other, eyes tearing. Shaking.
It was so powerful and magical. And I hate horror movies. It was brilliant.

Ultimately, the death of US manufacturing is about this attitude. It's easy to say "buy american or stfu" because virtue signaling is free. But it's hard to actually sustain a business because many Americans simply don't want to pay what it costs to produce things ethically in this country

Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."
