Am I reaching, or did Keith Giffen make Cosmic Boy look a little bit like Jim Shooter?
The cover of Legion of Super-Heroes #297, with a closeup of Cosmic Boy looking a little Shooter-esque. By Keith Giffen and Larry Mahlstedt. Jim "Trouble" Shooter.

LOL Sometimes I wish the JLA was as good as their maxi-seres. It was Marvel's Watchmen. (In story and tone only, I mean it was very good but not Moore good.) The Mink, their catwoman allegory was a waste to kill off in one issue.

When Hawkeye meets the actual official JLA he calls them Squadron rip-offs

Avengers #5. The team go to rescue a crashed passenger plane. But are confronted by the Squadron Supreme. Who claim they're imposters. This leads to the government revoking security clearance and giving them 48 hour to prove they are the real Avengers or be arrested.

From 1975, Captain America and a host of young Americans, as printed in Mediascene from pencils by Jack Kirby, who had Steve Rogers express the hope that the nation’s Bicentennial celebrations in 1976 would be peaceful.

America attacked the world and now every nation lies ruined and starving.

Overmind used the Squadron Supreme as his lackeys to ravage Earth and now defeated, the world greets the Squad with distrust.

As atonement, the Squad pledges they are going to restructure all society, no matter what.
Action shot of the Squadron Supreme rushing towards the reader.

Behind them is an image of fellow member, Nighthawk watching them with a wary look.

Squadron Supreme #1, Sept 1985 by Mark Gruenwald, Bob Hall & John Beatty.

It's #31DaysOfHorror and I want to highlight a down right terrifying film... Let The Right One In. It is no doubt the best vampire movie I've ever see. Its memorizing and frightening. The final scene will leave you dumbstruck. #horror #scary #movies #films #horrormovies #vampies

Ah, I remember that Holmes story! One of Doyle's best!
Cover to SPECTACULAR STORIES MAGAZINE 2, bannering SHERLOCK HOLMES. But the cover image is of a very contemporary-looking woman slugging a woman in a very low-cut blouse and tight skirt over the head with a shoe.

Grants, New Mexico

In towns where kindness still walks the streets, old signs hold the weight of welcome. They’re not just steel—they’re legacy.
