Thanks to Republicans in Congress, some Americans will have to pay more than $22,000 every year to keep their health insurance coverage.

$22,000.

That could be a matter of keeping health care coverage or just giving up—and for some people, life and death.

If another pandemic hits it is game over.
eligit.bsky.social
The video would go viral to an extent never before known to man.

Even better?
“Why are you such a f**king liar?”
Would be the last time they’d be allowed near him.
Worth it.
eligit.bsky.social
I would give a lot to have a reality where this person was never asked about anything ever again.
The answers are never good, no matter the question.
eligit.bsky.social
Even better would be a reporter willing to say “you realize that’s not true, right?”
eligit.bsky.social
Any democrat that talked like this about republican areas would be hounded from office within a month.
A month at most.

Is that why his ankles are as thick as fire hydrants?

Imagine presenting oneself like Kid Rock.
And then having the nerve to opine on the personal style choices of college kids?
SNL cannot match this level of ridiculousness.
Remember when kid rock went on a videotaped shooting spree against beers?
That is objectively way weirder than nose rings.

Kid Rock: Do you know what is stupid… these chicks running around on campuses with blue hair, five nose rings.

There were 68 murders in Portland in 2024.
I wonder how long it will be until trump says it was 1000 murders.
Or 2000 or 3000.
eligit.bsky.social
I thought these MAGAs were into “freedom”?
Isn’t personal style part of freedom?
Just look at the style of kid rock?
It’s ridiculous but honestly it’s his business.
How some college kid dressed is their business.

Difficult to process that this tv show is not parody.
These grotesque people.

And even now when we pretend this longstanding policy is considered “bad”, do we penalize the American citizens who HIRE undocumented workers?
No.
We assault the powerless workers in the street.
And drag them off.
Treat them like animals.
As a political punching bag.
That’s our “thank you” to them.

Childcare.
Elder care.
Food production and delivery.
Housing production.
Landscaping.
None of these industries would exist as they do without a large undocumented workforce.
working for wages that American citizens consider too low.
And this has all been allowed for decades.
Tacit approval.
eligit.bsky.social
It’s shameful that America built its economy on the backs of low wage undocumented workers and then had the nerve to demonize them?
Use them for fascist video content?
America should be thanking these folks for decades of backbreaking work.
While never cashing in on the benefits that citizens enjoy.

It’s not safe to have a president this deranged.
Few can even tell if he’s lying or delusional.
And it doesn’t really matter which.

Trump: "Portland, I mean -- every time I look at that place it's burning down. There are fires all over the place. When a store -- there are very few of them left -- but when a store owner rebuilds a store they build it out of plywood. They don't put up storefronts anymore. They just put wood up."

This is the danger of centering fantasy in politics.
The separation of church and state is so key.
Because if public policy is based on whose imaginary friend said what about what?
We are floating in nowhere land.
Millions of Christians sincerely think Jesus sent trump to earth to be president.

Murders in Chicago are a real problem.
No sane person would deny it.
A problem that is currently improving but still requires attention.
But if the president is raving about wildly made up numbers it makes mitigation of the real numbers more difficult.
eligit.bsky.social
And honestly this is what lies at the root of many of our political problems.
Americans, including journalists btw, seem to want a king.
A stage entertainer.
Even if he’s a deranged incompetent liar.
Policy is a secondary consideration at best.
Real policy is not autocratic.
It is a team effort.
eligit.bsky.social
Biden had lost a step or three.
No doubt about it.
Verbally not a good performer.
But on a *policy level* he didn’t do crazy erratic shit every day.
Didn’t turn the nation against itself.
Didn’t engage in wildly irresponsible and erratic economic policy.
Didn’t spew insane lies every time he spoke.
eligit.bsky.social
Nobody who lies like that and sexually assaults like that is sane imo.
And yet, “that’s just trump being trump! What a kidder!”
The man is mentally f**ked up.
Objectively.
Childhood trauma, genetic issues, lots of broken wreckage in that rotting orange pumpkin.
eligit.bsky.social
The sad thing is that when trump and his republican stooges lie and fear monger about everything THEY want you to fear, and ignore anything they want to enable, it makes addressing real problems much harder.
Because public perception of reality becomes wildly detached from actual reality.
eligit.bsky.social
The same republicans who tell you about thousands of murders that don’t exist will also tell you about the danger of trans killers and the nyc subway (exponentially safer than driving btw).
Trump taught them you can simply lie all the time about everything and people will believe you.
eligit.bsky.social
“A very short period of time”?
Murders in Chicago are *down 32%* year over year.
It is impossible to create useful public policy when you can’t even describe reality.
Real problems exist.
4000 murders in Chicago in a “very short period of time” is not one of them.
You can only address real problems.
eligit.bsky.social
Trump makes up numbers.
“Drug prices will drop by 1000%!”
“4000 murders in a short time!”
There were 573 murders in Chicago in 2024 btw.
620 in 2023.
715 in 2022.
330 so far in 2025.
What is “a short time”?
A week, a month, a year, two years?
