The only thing which springs to mind is that networks get handed over to people like Bari Weiss when they want to die.
In no universe is putting decrepit annoying Alan Dershowitz on screens going to "work".
This is the sign of a company going into terminal irrelevance.
Appealing to nobody.
American journalism will be saved by…87 year old Alan Dershowitz?
That’s the big idea to help turn this ship around?
😂

It’s both comical and dystopian.
Americans hate each other so readily that it is seen as gig work.
“Make Americans fight online for $10 an hour! Work from home!”

Ok, cool.
Illegitimate prosecution ended.
As it should be.
Now hopefully we can go back to never hearing from this blowhard ever again.
Comey: "I'm grateful the court ended the case against me, which was a prosecution based on malevolence & incompetence... I was inspired by the career people who refused to be part of this travesty. It cost some of them their jobs, but it preserved their integrity, which is beyond price"

Small businesses across the country, including here in Nevada, are preparing for higher prices again. They’re facing higher shipping costs, higher tariff costs, and higher prices across their supply chains.
Most Small Businesses Planning Price Hikes As Inflation Escalates, Report Finds
Despite mounting pressure from tariffs and rising costs, small businesses remain “cautiously optimistic,” according to a Bank of America report.

These ginned up cases were a joke.
Glad they are being treated as such.
The criminal cases against both James Comey and Letitia James are dismissed. A total humiliation for Donald Trump and Pam Bondi. — And it’s only Monday.

I said this before the meeting and I'll say it again now.
I think it was the smart play to go meet with trump.
I think some real damage was prevented.
Obviously not ALL the potential damage has been prevented.
Far from it.
But SOME damage has been prevented.
And some is better than none.

This is a story about how America’s world-leading cancer and dementia research system was destroyed by frauds and naifs who broke the law.

There must be consequences.
Some incredible details in this piece
*one DOGE faction was planning the future of the US government at a venture capital firm
*illegally communicating on Signal to avoid transparency laws was deeply embedded into organizational culture to be taken for granted

What Cassidy is saying is that he is untrustworthy.
Simple as that.
He voted to confirm someone that he now admits is dangerously wrong about a very important issue.
TAPPER: You were the deciding vote that allowed RFK Jr to ascend to the role of Health Secretary. Did you give him too much credit?

CASSIDY: The fact is the scientific community agrees that vaccines are safe. That's all I can say.

Many of those maga accounts you saw on twitter were not who they pretended to be.
They were run by people in other countries attempting (and succeeding) to influence our elections.

This is pretty much the case.
As I've said before, Trump is a WWF brain.
To him all this political posturing IS mostly playacting.
It's all showbiz to him.
"I call you a communist, you call me a fascist! It's fun and means nothing!"
At his core he is a nihilistic sociopath, not political.
The thing about Trump saying it’s fine for Mamdani to call him a fascist is that he genuinely thinks all of this is kayfabe, just as he could insult Rubio or Cruz but still work with them. It’s not possible for him to imagine other people being sincere about anything.

I’m sick of hearing that closing the Department of Education would send control back to the states.

The states already have control.

What they really want with a closing is lack of oversight, access to education funding, and more Christian Nationalism in schools.

Yup.
Just like with musk buying twitter, these oligarchs don’t care if these things make money. The point was to remove them as a tool for criticizing the powerful and they’ve done that. A secondary goal was spreading their own propaganda, and maybe making a little money was a distant third concern.

So:
Both Putin and Zelenskyy are a no.
Brilliant deal maker trump.
Pleasing nobody.
Incompetent.
Russia flat out rejects Trump's 28-point peace plan: "Even in a reduced military and territorial form, Ukraine would remain a significant danger, requiring us to keep our forces on the western borders."

It sure does make you think.
Just remembering how one of the most important and widely read and dropped-with-maximally-damaging-timing "Biden is old and senile" pieces was reported by Nuzzi. It makes you think!
well, I read it, and the salient, non-gross part is Lizza alleging, midsentence and without elaboration, that Nuzzi ran numerous “catch-and-kill operations” on RFK’s behalf, which would give her a role in both his appointment and the untold preventable deaths he has abetted in office. Cool.

Boy do I agree with this.
The way a lot of people turn politics into a toxic video game environment is not healthy.
I have never been a "fan" or "friend" of ANY politician.
To me, there is only cause and effect.
If there are two candidates I pick the one who will have a net better effect.
That's it.
People have got to find a lower-stakes outlet for their parasocial fandom urges than politics.

It's worth remembering, when trying to assess Hochul, that she did not ask for this job.
She was thrown into it when Cuomo resigned in disgrace.
That is NOT what usually happens to any lieutenant governor.
It is not to be expected when one takes on that job.
So IMO she's done ok.
Stepped up.
Yep.
I gave her a hard time during the politicking around congestion pricing but she has come into her own to a pretty impressive degree.
She had to jump into the job when Cuomo was forced out in disgrace.
So she has had to learn on the job is a very stressful time….
