Yes, sometimes short is good! I really liked his soundtrack to the show Mrs America, and the lovely track I heard yesterday was from The Good Robot 😊

Yeah, immediate pregnancy insomnia tipped me off before any tests... 😴

Quite often I hear some random track and think "ooh I like that" and then I check the composer and yes, it's Kris Bowers.

Ian Hislop made a great series a while back about Victorian philanthropy and he concluded that a significant reason why many donated a lot of money was because their religion told them they must... Today's billionaires generally don't believe in anything except their own greed.

My grandfather (who I never met) was born in 1895 and flew planes in WW1, and my granny (who I knew well) was born in 1908. It is definitely strange to think how close I am to the 19th century.

Oh yes. I think my early childhood in the 80s was a lot better for some of this stuff.

I await with baited breath the response of the sock company I just emailed 😆

Do children's socks really need to be divided in to girls and boys?

(The answer is no)

You're probably right, but I found the percussive bits of The Village really scary when I was a teenager. I'm a massive wuss though. 😆

1. On reparation for transatlantic slavery.
I have not read Lenny Henry's book yet but I want to provide some general context in the face of his apparent shock suggestion

When I heard about this being made, it kind of flabbergasted me that people would go to this amount of effort (and money) for the subject...

My husband thinks I should have just accepted the invitation.

Pure insanity. No one has ever confused a veggie burger for a beef burger because of the word burger.

Just had a call from someone inviting me to a posh global tech meeting in London to discuss financial markets and AI. It was all very confusing until we established that there's actually ANOTHER Emma Butterworth who's very important in the Bank of England, and they thought I was her 🤣

www.goodreads.com/book/show/56... I know that this collection, and the other in the series this publisher has produced has done extremely well, so it seems like there is actually some kind of market, if they look for it. ❤️

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

I have a degree in social anthropology. Did it lead me to a well paid corporate job? No (though it probably could have). Did it completely change my world view and give me the tools to understand and critique the world we live in? 1000 times yes.

Badenoch and Co see education only as a means to a massive income in some soul destroying career.

Devoid of imagination and the power of knowledge they view life entirely through the prism of the CV.

My advice always is to study what interests you and the rest will follow

Just... Wow. And somehow she managed to identify with the baddies?

Ok so... I'm just supposed to die? I'm 100% behind looking for more sustainable ways to produce medicines, but that's rather different to shaming individuals for using life-saving devices (that there are no alternatives to).

As somebody with asthma who uses inhalers - SHUT THE FUCK UP. THIS ARTICLE IS SHAMING PEOPLE WITH A CHRONIC CONDITION.

"Significantly" My ass. You know what else does? AI Data centers - corporations - cows - asphalt - THOUSANDS OF OTHERS THINGS THAT ARE NOT MEDICINE.

Fuck you - fuck you again.
Inhalers contribute significantly to global warming, study finds
Millions of Americans using inhalers for chronic lung diseases like asthma may be unknowingly contributing to global warming, according to new research.
