Unwilling to further militarize, the Jedi Order formally withdraws from the Republic. Anakin’s loyalists begin to form their own mystical order, loyal to the Chancellor.

The Jedi are welcomed by a small network of neutral systems, hoping to remain outside of the great powers’ influence.

After a few years, an uneasy white peace is signed, dividing the galaxy into two major power blocs and Maul’s alliance as a weaker kingmaker.

The Republic populace is more sympathetic to Anakin’s revanchist faction than the Jedi, and he will eventually become Chancellor a few years later

If Maul returns (and let’s be honest, it’s way more fun if he does), a third faction enters the fray after he unites the crime lords under his banner in opposition to both the Republic and Separatists

oh god, I’m suddenly having flashbacks to a Chinese cinema class I took in college where we watched an (otherwise very good!) film that had a drawn-put sequence with a sweeping, dramatic orchestral score accompanying… the protagonists filling out paperwork to join the Communist Party
