What if the ultimate purpose of the internet is to foster more addiction?
Every American, no matter how much I disagree with them, should be able to speak their mind (politically), without being murdered.

It's really just that simple.
I think i'm in the rare minority who actually enjoys their twitter account. I don't know if it's my insistent blocking/muting or what, but I don't generally get all of the crap.
you can set your X account to be sequential. I'm kind of surprised you can't do that on bsky yet.
I absolutely believe you should be able to speak your mind (and political views) in public, unafraid. Even if I completely disagree w/ you. Even if what you say disgusts me.
I'm sorry, but nearly every time I post something here, the most toxic shit gets posted in response (from ppl I don't know; yes, i'm editing my interaction settings now). I know ppl dig bsky, but the vast majority of my interactions here are FAR worse than anything that happens on X or LI.
Thankfully, they have a suspect in custody. Political violence - in any form -- is unacceptable.
It may look like the same name, but trust me, it's a new thing. A new conversation, to be more precise. A single-track show. A discussion not a booth crawl. Lateral thinking not sales pitches. A return to our roots.

Finally getting around to checking out the @perplexitycomet.bsky.social browser. It's pretty cool....I gave it the (fairly easy) task of completing my daily Finnish lesson over on duolingo and it banged it out (showing me results in a side panel)....anyway, I'm digging it.
Now halve it again, and subtract 90%. The changes coming in software (from SDLC to dev careers to how software [and AI] will change orgs) will be as significant (if not more) as the spreadsheet and the internet. This conversation is so important that we're gonna run a conf about it. Stay tuned...

What we need is a conversation about how software is changing the SDLC, changing the dev career path, changing how we operate our orgs. That conversation should cover AI, but not be limited to it. It should truly be a conversation - not a sales job, or lead gen exercise. Stay tuned.
please note: I am neither a nazi nor a fascist. :)
I posted one thing about Mamdani and I've since been called "nazi trash" and a fascist who needs to apologize for my crimes.

Please note: I wasn't even (really) critical of Mamdani in my post.

so it's good to see that bsky is inclusive and welcoming.
the thing that struck me in that period was how small the tech community suddenly felt. It really seemed like everyone knew everyone (or was 1 step away). I made so many connections in that period just by being around.
oh yea. EVERYONE was unemployed. People went broke. Lost homes. It was real. And yet - somehow - in the midst of that, real innovation happened.

No way this time is different. Humans are humans. Period.
Building on what I started saying yesterday...
Things I'm posting elsewhere (where there isn't a character limit):
Maybe it's just me, but I say the Federal Reserve should work out of an old barn in Nebraska. They could work on repairing it and painting it in between meetings.
