As we all set off on holiday travel a few reminders of gratitude:
- most people travel only a handful of times in their lifetime
- trips many of us go on multiple times per year are once-in-a-lifetime, bucket list trips for many people
- most people sit in economy seats, even on long haul flights

While everyone else was lined up for Wicked last night, I popped in to see Rental Family. Couple of observations:

* So many people in the lobby dressed as witches. Very cool.

* Brendan Fraser is a fricken treasure. Put him in everything.

* Writer/director Hikari creates beautiful art.

I'll never write like Bourdain, Buffett, or Hemingway, but I still take notes at the end of the day when I travel and make an attempt at wrapping them in nouns and verbs when I get home.

Mamma Mia. Greece, How Could Anyone Resist You?
Greece gives you the postcard views, sure. But it’s the moments you’d write on the back that stay with you — backing a stick-shift down a village hill, lazy taverna lunches, flaneuring the day away…

Get to know this word, folks. Vitally important and one you’ll hear (and should hear) more frequently.

NEW: Rad Power Bikes has told employees it will go out of business in January without new funding.

The company said in a staff email that it had a "very promising" option to stay alive, but whatever that was, it fell apart.

I wonder if the Dems realize not just how many loyal Dems are going to primary them, but worse: how many they’ve now convinced never to vote again - at all.

A pro-ICE sheriff in a purple Philly suburban county got the boot as well.

Feel like law enforcement races are the ones least likely to flip to Dems, but last night even those did.

And a pro-ICE sheriff lost in a county that is 80% white. So this wasn’t just the cratering of Hispanic GOP support.

Democrats just ran the table, winning the marquee races -- NJ and VA sweeps, NYC mayor, CA prop, PA Supreme Court -- and lower-profile races in red and purple states across the nation.

If the media you're reading or watching paints this as anything but a massive win, stop reading or watching them.

Dear fellow communication pros,

Stop everything you're doing. Listen to Mamdani's speech. Absorb it. Learn from it. Let it light a fire under your next draft.

You're welcome,

Mike
Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

As Akamai's COO, Adam Karon, puts it: "Bigger isn’t better. Not any more. AI is breaking the decades-old cloud model as companies run up against rising inference costs and latency issues. Focus is shifting from power to proximity, from megawatts to milliseconds."

www.akamai.com/blog/cloud/e...
That said, "In five years, hyperscale data-centers will still have their place in AI, but I'll take Jensen's bit; I think distributed AI will be a billion times larger, across edge devices, on-premises systems, and specialized hardware."

They will, because they're incredibly useful applications.
