The Synopsis of Lemon Balm by Artemis Quinn and Auden Eris-Everen. It says: Cypress Borne is 22 years old, a dashing young non-binary lad with a fairly easy life in New York City. That is, until their routine is interrupted by a vicious dog attack. Their life turns upside down — blackouts, unexplained fits of rage and lost time plague him. Two years of medical tests, therapy, and a life that's spiraling down the toilet later, they navigate their way through the panic attacks and the hopelessness to an old, derelict, and a seemingly abandoned church in the woods. Little do they know, the church isn't abandoned; rather, occupied by a vampire hoping to die and rotting in a coffin.

Acanthus Sylene believes that a fine wine should never have an age attached, and neither should a fine being. Nonbinary in such a way that gender is completely irrelevant, Acanthus has lived a very long life and is frankly exhausted by it. Embroiled deeply into the politics of the World of Shadows, they have abandoned their duties to The Night Garden, a refugee path that they forged. But something changes when a lost, scared, ignorant werewolf shows up on their doorstep.

Both of these supernatural beings are looking for answers. Somehow, instead of finding their place in the world, they find each other. However, in the process of finding and growing with each other, they may have put their entire lives — and The Night Garden — at risk.

I think otherness is definitely the foundation of the genre, I agree. And we as a group, are pretty diverse!
I appreciate your input, Johnny, I wasn't sure which way to jump on it: I'm still not, entirely, but I know we're certainly going to do othering soon. If not in three weeks, soon.

Oh, I like to vary things. I certainly think I manage to retain adaptable and interpretable, no matter how 'relatable' it can be. And of course, relatable means there is scope for individual takes.

that is respectful, and still a nod to the existence of the day, especially as there's a day about Indigenous people that week as well. So I think I can mention that they are both happening, and that we are talking about horror and being othered, and let people bring their own experiences of that. ?

Yes I wouldn't want to do specifically intersex awareness in horror. It's not appropriate and it would feel like, I was capitalising on a very important day and talking over their voices.
I wouldn't like it if someone did it on an Asexual day or Aromantic either.

It's not on the day itself, I think it's 2 days later if I recall correctly, and another mentioned an Indigenous Day, so we do have a couple we can talk about.
It's like being ace, we get left out of so many queer discussions.

They're constantly left out, exactly. And that's what made me pause, and ask. Because I'm not trying to do a whole, oh it's Intersex Awareness Day, let's do a topic all about THAT! But more, looking at our own otherness, and how it fits within horror, and trying to bring some more to their day.
